The game hasn't aged that great, but I played through it on an emulator a couple years back with a PS4 controller and had a blast. Played through and beat the game on the hardest difficulty and unlocked the cheats and it was really fun. The controls and the multiplayer haven't aged well, but the mission structure of that game is still probably my favorite of all time for games similar to it.
Playing with upgraded graphics was a big help. It's pretty tough to play on N64 now especially considering that most old N64 controllers that you will use now have pretty jacked up control sticks due to their flaws.

Nintendo is stubborn AF.
I enjoyed the Wii remake. I spent countless hours ranking up online. I really like how the system required a ton of effort to get the best guns. Level 45 was a huge breaking point for the Strata. Then proxy mines and the masterton in the low 50's. I miss that game.

I spent way too much time with this back in its heyday.
I have had the opportunity to play it once or twice in recent years and the controls are cancer after adjusting to dual stick controllers.
I’ll be interested to see how they update the game pass version. The early 3D era (ps1, n64, ps2, etc) is really hard for me to get back into, even with the aid of nostalgia.

It's not the game that hasn't aged well, it's the technology. The game was a 10/10 for it's time. You can't fault the game for not living up to 2022 controls and cameras.

This is def. true, the early era 3D games, particularly the N64 and PS1 games, are jarring at first, but I contend after you play one of them for an hour or two you totally get used to it again.

That's the game that brought me back into gaming. I spent an irresponsible amount of time grinding levels in that game and talking shite on the Gamespot message board or our IRC chat. At one point I was 4th or 5th on the overall leaderboard. The recession had just hit pretty hard and I had just laid off from my job, so I didn't really have anything else better to do.

Yes, definitely shite. I had that issue one time and I had to sign into the actual origin website and then download from there. It launched origin and started downloading. It was weird.

Damn, I think your name just clicked in my head. We probably played quite a bit. There was a thread on here about it when it was new. It's what got me back into gaming too after being out of it for quite a few years.

For those of you who want to play the OG multiplayer with upgraded graphics and a bunch of mods, check out Goldeneye:Source. It's playable on a shitty laptop with an integrated GPU.
