So, I'm looking for a couple different types of games for me:
1. fun first-person shooter for multiplayer with friends
2. large fantasy/RPG game for long one player campaigns (probably going to go with Skyrim or Red Dead Redemption II, but open to suggestions)
3. cool horror, RPG, first-person shooter, or adventure games that feature co-op campaigns via online multiplayer
4. goofy, off-the-wall, cheap, fun, games

I would suggest Witcher 3 over Skyrim, but they are both awesome games. Fallout 4 and God of War would also go on my list of recommended games.

The board has mixed opinions on which Fallout game is the best; unfortunately, I started with 4 and am afraid to go backwards and be disappointed.

Must-have PS4 exclusives:

Horizon: Zero Dawn
Bloodborne
The Last of Us

I also really enjoyed Infamous: Second Son for a fun, open world super-powered romp.

God of War should be the first game you play on the PS4.

Would bloodbourne count as a horror RPG type game? I think you can play that online as well.

I personally found Monster Hunter to be complete trash. Combat is clunky and that's pretty much the whole game.

Do any of those have a co-op mode available online? I have a friend out of state that wants us to do a game where we do a campaign together

It was but I had to quit because there were soooooooooooo many cut scenes. I just wanted to play the damn game.

Online multiplayer co-op? Hmm, destiny? Division? Borderlands? GTA? Overcooked?

ETA: Never played Monster Hunter but had friends that bought it and hated it. Also there is a game where you play as two prisoners who escape...prison. Maybe you and your buddy would like that.

That actually sounds pretty fun. I think one of the ones we're definitely going to try is there's a Friday the 13th game where you can play in co-op mode to try and work together to defeat Jason.

Don’t spend money on that pos. It is absolutely horrible.

Dead by daylight is far superior if you want that style of game

The must have games are Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher 3 if you haven't already played it. Assassin's Creed Oydessy is far And away the best in the series. Far Cry 5 and New Dawn are great as well. If you're new to PlayStation I would also recommend the Uncharted series.

ETA: fun cheap game...Hollow Knight... absolute blast once you get about an hour in.

I ended up buying someone’s gamer tag and ps4 account with all their games, so I have most of what y’all suggested:
Dead before daylight
The Division
Rainbow Siege
Black Opps
The Crew
GTA V
Final Fantasy XV
Friday the 13th
Bloodborne
And a lot more

I don’t play many games nowadays but the few that I have played damn near all year are

1. Red dead redemption 2
2. Resident evil 7 ( the remake of 2 came out recently also so there are options there )
3. God of War

Those 3 I bought along with the kingdom hearts final fix which included every game up until 3.

I got GTA 5 and just picked up a copy of Destiny from a friend.

So, from as far as I can tell, all I'm missing are really the following games:
Star Wars Battlefront II
Red Dead Redemption
Skyrim
God of War
A Way Out
The Witcher 3
The Stick of Truth
Fractured But Whole
The Last of Us
Assassin's Creed Odyssey
and maybe FIFA 19

I think I've done pretty damn great on system and game acquisition so far on my budget
