Makes sense. If you can hit a one tap headshot and defuse the bomb while 4 of your dead teammates are yelling in your ear, managing some planes is a walk in the park

Gen Xers will be the first generation where video games are designed with senior citizens in mind as a major consumer class.

As the top end of Generation X is approaching 60, we will see a retirement class that has grown up practically their entire lives having played some sort of video games on the regular - from Pong, Space Invaders & Pac-Man all the way through to the current console generation & PCs.

There's likely going to be a gigantic sample size to determine if a lifetime of playing video games can keep your brain young.

This is why the average age of a gamer keeps going up.

I actually thought about this recently. I'm approaching my 50's and am still capable of beating all the supposedly "hardest" games pretty easily. Single player at least. It's been proven that in the ultra competitive PvP type games that small declines in reaction times due ot age are very noticable. But single player games you basically get unlimited retries for your brain to adapt.

I was wondering if at some point I'll hit a wall, like will I seriously be able to handle a Sekiro style game when I'm 65 or 70 or something? I dunno.

It might be a use it or lose it type of thing. As long as you keep challenging yourself you probably stay sharp.

I can hang w/ Silksong and some of the twitchier platformers and it took me just a few weeks to plow through Splatoon Raiders to get to the endgame Bottomless Buffet level 150+.

Finished BOTW & TOTK. I don't care for Soulslike rage simulators, but that's just because it's not my style.

I don't know that I've met a Metroidvania that wasn't right up my alley.

I like my chances, down the stretch.
