Wow what an experience. It took me a little bit to play through 2033, but I played through last Light in two days.

Amazing games. Can't believe it took me so long to get around to playing them.

I do think the Last Light in particular though pulls some absolute bull shite with the good vs bad ending. Nowhere does the game hint at any sort of morality system or penalty for killing then key moments in the game are either not made clear enough (ie save the bear) or just don't make a lot of narrative sense (sparring both traitors). Outside of games where narrative choice is the focus, I'm very much against there being good vs bad endings. Usually the good (or true) ending is locked behind some arbitrary number of side missions or as in the case of Metro Last Light, a series of arbitrary events that aren't made clear how the choices will affect the ending of the story.

In 2033, the canon ending is actually the "bad" ending, but in Last Light, your character literally *dies* in the bad ending, thus the third game makes no sense.

I couldn't imagine playing any of the Metro games on anything but PC.

It is an extremely taxing game, even Last Light still requires some power.

The Metro series (2033 and Last Light) is one of the best gaming series of the past decade.

I'm close to the end of 2033. Just stopped playing for some reason... I also have Last Light in my library on Steam (both originals not Redux), and Exodus ready to go when I do beat these.

It's the best of the series. Not sure where you got mixed reviews, could've possibly been due to bugs at launch. It's a great, well-crafted game with lots of variety

People bombed the hell out of it for the stunt they pulled removing it from Steam and giving Epic temporary exclusivity.

A few reasons why people bombed it...Steam issue but the hate was directed at Epic.

Some technical issues on release. RTX issues.

And some folks didn't like that they pulled the series above ground.

I have zero problem with Epic. I already have 5 other launchers. 1 more isn't an issue and If I don't rant about console exclusives, then I am not going to rant about PC exclusives.

I didn't have any tech glitches.

I played the redux games for the first time and then Exodus. Loved it all.

Yeah I just started Exodus, and it feels like they've lost the plot trend chasing AAA games.

Wait till you’re settled in. The game perfectly walks the line with a blend of open sandbox and linear levels. Exploration is meaningful and rewarding - you won’t be chasing ?s all over the map to get miniscule amounts of exp. As soon as you start to get tired of a sandbox level, you’ll get hit with 1-2 linear levels

Ok I finished Exodus, and my opinion hasn't really changed

The atmosphere of the first two games is completely gone for about 90% of the game and is replaced with something that feels more like it belongs in a Fallout game. I would also say that visually Exodus is obviously the best looking, but the environments just feel incredibly static. The lighting seems much flatter in the newest game as well.

I did not care for the open world. Every map was the same. Train stops in this new biome in hopes of establishing a colony but gets involved in wacky hyjinks that results in the crew getting banned from the area. Because the game has no real plot and has to end sometime, they come up with this hackneyed endgame regarding finding medicine for Anna.

So much of the game is spent just walking forward to the next waypoint on the map with nothing but crafting components to find along the way.

That leads me to my next point. The crafting kills the pacing. I much prefer the game drip feeding me ammo, health packs, filters instead of all of that coming almost entirely from crafting.

Great ending though. Probably the best one in the series. It's so good that I really think they need to retire the series (which they won't do) or focus on a new protagonist.

I still hate the kharma system. The game would be so much more fun if you weren't stressing over having to play a certain way and doing x amount of totally unrelated tasks in the hopes of raising some invisible kharma meter that grants you the good ending.
