so I want to get this, I've never played a FF game and this seems like a good FF game to start with.
but I'm right in the middle of witcher 3 and it's got me hooked.
anyone think FFXV is better than witcher 3 yet?

Are you trying to pin fan boys against each other here?
Posted on 11/29/16 at 8:16 pm to Mr Gardoki
lol nah. didn't think about that. was wondering if someone could convince me to stop playing witcher 3 and start FFXV
would be surprised if it's possible at this point with the amount of time that needs to go into both. having not played either series, my knowledge of both is lacking.

Having played old school FF only and the Witcher series, you can't really compare the two.
They are similar in game type, but not at all in genre or playstyle.

Judging from gameplay videos I've seen... this is more realtime fighting and not turn based.
I may be completely wrong. However the combat seems very similar to witcher 3... at least with dodging and sword fighting.

It is, which is why I returned to the series. I hated the turn based. It's now based off of the fighting mechanics that Kingdom Hearts uses.
I'm saying that FF and the Witcher are two totally different spectrums of storytelling in what to expect. I couldn't even begin to compare the two.

I will second all of this.
The base game is the greatest game I've ever played, but the DLC is honestly a must play as well. It's literally perfection.

I'm not sure where that's located on yours but I feel like our "O" and "square" should be reversed for PS4
The exact same.

oauron or someone...who is the FF 13 apologist?

Yes. I love Final Fantasy XIII. I am not ashamed. My favorite list of FFs is not quite mold fitting though, so don't be too harsh.

It's funny. I away rank 10 high. Then I went back to replay it and was holy frick this is linear...maybe I should give 13 another shot. I was happy. I really did like it and I've let go of the old FF( the herbaderba errggmaa gerd turnnnbasedd )fan boy I used to be. Hell I was enjoying 13-2.

Like people have said before though they masked the linear gameplay in 10 with an incredible story. It was like reading a good book or watching a great movie where you were engrossed in the story. The problem with 13 the story/characters didn't resonate with most people and with zero towns the game didn't mask its linearity at all.

It's a great game to start with. If you're really into something right now, I would just try to finish it. Much like Witcher, FF15 will be discounted in 6-12 months.

True. I stated that earlier.
13 may not have had towns but it did have many beautiful places. If X story was a 10/10 id say 13 was an 8/10 my problem with my first run through was not taking the time to soak up the extra story bits given to you in the menu which made a huge difference the second go around.

how is the soundtrack and does the story start off slow?

I think the OST is amazing. The story does start off slow, but does ramp up fairly quickly. They went pretty heavy in the "do what you want when you want" mindset compared to other FF games.

I figure id be 8 hours or so before i leave the first section. All i know it could be more.
