This is actually one of the reasons I stopped playing the franchise so long ago. The Kingdom Hearts battle mechanics is what brought me back.

I'm very much enjoying it.. played 2 hours but also making myself go to sleep. I haven't progressed too far in the story because I've been playing around with hunts and a side quest or two.
I really like the interactivity between the characters.
I don't hate the battle system.. I think I'm going to grow to like it a lot; I'm just bad at it right now I think. I need to spend more time with it and also with figuring out when and how to effectively use my allies techniques.
Anyways; overall I'm all in.. I'm actually excited to play again tomorrow evening and I haven't felt like that about a game in a long time.

I'm firing it back up right now (laid off)
The only issue I can tell I'm going to have is the camera getting to keep up in tight spaces while fighting

Apparently there is a day-one patch that is supposed to fix camera issues.
Although I have not heard any details on what it is supposed to fix.

Have put about two hours into it so far. The hype is real. Glad I have the next few days off so I can get plenty of hours in before I go to Germany.

Haven't played any yet. Would it be a GOTY contender. I originally didn't have high hopes, but had heard great things after people played it behind closed doors.

Personally speaking I would think so. I hardly ever get the season pass for games but I did for FF15 so when Co-op becomes available I can play with others.
