I didn't mind FF8, except for the fact that guardian forces broke the difficulty and the storyline makes less and less sense as it progresses. The whole "we all grew up together in an orphanage, but the mean old guardian forces made us forget" bit made me gag. 
Historically, final fantasy storylines have been dogshit, but I think 8 takes the cake. 13 might be a runner up, if I could be bothered to remember any of it.

Im a sucker for complex strorys that make me go WTF. I thought it was good but I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the game and its wide openess that I didnt get from others.

Love them all but if I had to rank them, FF9 would be my all time favorite. I've played through the game to disc 4 at least 6 times.
