I was under the assumption that they wiped everything. In retrospect that doesn't make sense because that'd royally piss the vets off. I'll roll with you guys.

I'm partial to Marauder/Conjurer/Bard/Summoner. Is Conjurer the RDM? And are any of these Advanced jobs or are they all available from the start?

Conjurer is the healer. I'm not too familiar with what the red mage is, but I know it's not available yet, but it's rumored to be coming.
As far as the jobs, they are linked to a class (lancer to dragoon and so forth) and you can access them once you hit level 35 with the base class, but you don't gain all gear or skills until you reach 50. Each job let's you pull skills from 2 additional sub classes.

Was a bit mistaken on the job info.
-Paladin, requires Gladiator level 30 and Conjurer level 15. Can use Marauder and Conjurer abilities.
-Dragoon, requires Lancer level 30 and Pugilist level 15. Can use Pugilist and Archer abilities.
-Monk, requires Pugilist level 30 and Lancer level 15. Can use Lancer and Archer abilities.
-Bard, requires Archer level 30 and Conjurer level 15. Can use Conjurer and Thaumaturge abilities.
-Warrior, requires Marauder level 30 and Gladiator level 15. Can use Gladiator and Pugilist abilities.
-White Mage, requires Conjurer level 30 and Gladiator level 15. Can use Gladiator and Pugilist abilities.
-Black Mage, requires Thaumaturge level 30 and Pugilist level 15. Can use Pugilist and Archer abilities.

Sounds like you would want to go with the Summoner class in this game if you were a RDM in XI.
Another great class is Bard.. it's like a mixture of what bard was in xi, and ranger, is a very fun job and actually pretty difficult to be good at.

If I had to guess
Summoner - level 30 arcanist and level 15 thaumaturge

the beta forums are full of people that just like the whine in general.. you should have heard how bad it was when they played XI.. those people will still play, they NEED something to complain about.
P.S: If an "XI" player played before this re-release.. they are a bit different than the ones that aren't playing it right now.
