re: Fallout 76 thoughts...

I stopped mindlessly following every quest and fast traveling to each closest point asap, to instead switching to exploring every landmark around Vault 76 onwards.
retrace my first steps from the vault, just venture out into a different direction.
I drop some old shite I don't need and cant scrap out front the vault or near by, in case a noob finds it and wants it. no sense keeping a lvl 5 legendary that weighs 5-15 lbs in my stash
also have begun incorporating grenades into my playstyle. pretty funny to toss a grenade into a super mutant stronghold and watch them run out and be greeted by my rifle
added Psycho, Buffout, a few other chems to my "favorites" wheel to make sure I actually use them before starting a tough event/location
pumping up gun damage is good , but, I feel I need Melee, explosives, and chem buffs to balance my char and get the most damage out of arsenal
current loadout:
sledgehammer
combat rifle
single shot .44 revolver
10mm sub machinegun
10mm pistol
lvl 23. SPECIAL all over the place. 7 in str, 3 per, 5 end, 1 char, 7 int, 5 agi, 2 luck

I run rank 5 ironclad. +50 physical and +50 energy resist if you are not in power armor. You will need the armor perk that slows down the breaking and makes it cheaper to repair so you can keep decent armor on.
I rarely run power armor. I keep a set on me, but only use it if I am just getting my shite pushed in or I head into a nuke zone. Nuke zones require power armor or a hazmat suit. The hazmat suit removes all of you armor when you equip it though.
Another way to handle nuke zones if in a group is to have one person run and share rad sponge which removes radiation and another person run and share ghoulish so that radiation heals your lost health.
You get rads and then rad sponge procs and removes the rads and ghoulish fills your health back up. It will save rad-x. rad away, and stimpacks.

this may seem obvious, but its worth stating:
1) crouching takes your name/icon off the minimap. good for stalking players
2) You've got to micromanage which perk cards you have equipped and change them up often. For example, Intelligence offers Hacker and crafting perks. It is pointless to walk around with HACKER equipped, if you are nowhere near a terminal.
find a terminal, then equip hacker. unequip when done
this line of thinking can apply to every perk and tree. Unequip the perk cards you know you wont be using , and equip combat related ones when available
when talking to a vendor, equip charisma perks and use charisma buffs to get better prices. but if you aren't near a vendor and don't plan on visiting one, no need to have a barter type perk equipped

IM ready to go home and play. This work thing keeps getting in the way of my gaming time.
Posted on 12/13/18 at 2:01 pm to King
yeah. gonna get Well Rested, pop some Psychos/Buffout, and some whiskey and go on a sledgehammer spree. grind XP was quick as possible in very active spots
im at the "return to top of the world to see rose" part of main quest, the next part after completing her first quest
the Evan bug is finally fixed too. where he wouldn't spawn. Ash Heap is a pretty cool place

I run through belching betty several times every evening. You can pick up around 100 shotgun shells per run. I was up to 1300 rounds last night.

Know what pisses me off about the “get better prices” perkcards?
All that does is mean I get to sell LESS shite and have to bounce around more and more. The perk card should increase the cap allotment the bots have instead of it always being 200
Posted on 12/15/18 at 1:54 am to beerJeep
The cap thing is annoying as hell.

Whats the deal with the vertibots and cargo bots? Shoot up a flare when u see them or what?
Posted on 12/19/18 at 11:56 am to Lucky_Stryke
Also what are your have to have perk cards? i know different builds but there have to be cant miss ones

seems like Intelligence has a lot of must haves.
mainly stuff related to repairing armor and weapons, or crafting them.
melee is pretty OP so any perks related to that would be must have. but obviously any weapon class you use will want weapon specific perks.
I found Kate's grindhouse last night. pretty neat. a movie theatre with heads on pikes out front.
also all those mansions next to the drained lake were a good explore.
for me personally,
S = pretty important, main trait
P = not as important to me
E = near useless.
C = near useless, to me
I = very important
A = I like pistols so I put a few into here
L = haven't really invested in this tree much.
there is a fallout build calculator, dont have the url handy but google "fo76 perk calculator" if you want to explore the trees, if you haven't.
new content coming soon, other vaults are opening

shite got real for me last night
was snooping around Site Charlie in the south near uncanny caverns. lvl 28. Another player lvl 35 was near. suddenly the music changes and lvl 62 charred feral ghouls appear. then a Diseased Scorchbeast takes flight and pins me down inside the silo. me and the rando had quite a fight on our hands to escape.
also had an encounter with a deathclaw and a roaming ghoul herd. first deathclaw takedown; had to use psycho and other buffs.
there is a lot of downtime when traveling and looting but when shite hits the fan out here, it goes bad QUICK and its all very fun

I run a melee build...late game Agility perks are the tits. One makes it so when you kill an enemy in vats it locks onto the next enemy with a damage boost, one makes it so every kill gives you a damage boost for 30s up to a certain %. I have those coupled with Luck perks that help refill your Action Points to help keep VATS flowing, awesome when a ton of things are in your face. My damage is off the charts after killing 5 things.
ETA: also Bloody Mess in Luck is a must have...its damage bonus is multiplicative instead of additive like most modifiers in the game. There's no real need to do anything besides pump your weapon skills + damage modifiers as your build, then maybe 6 points in INT so you can craft anything as needed.

Here's my build for nuke zones, just a straight damage frick you to anything on my path at lvl 71. I use a lvl 45 ski sword and lvl 50 Ultracite power armor...still a lot of min/maxing I can do but this still just wrecks everything, especially at Whitesprings.
LINK
ETA: Next step will be to reallocate endurance points to Luck I think and get a few more damage bonus perks.
ETA2: If I had to do it all over again I'd probably go 2H over 1H but oh well, maybe one day I'll get all those perk cards too
