So I passed on this game as a kid. Even when Smash came to the N64 I didn't care for this Ness kid.f

However I just finished the Nerd's video on Earthbound. Wow, wtf.. this looks like a masterpiece, no? I downloaded the ROM and plan to start tomorrow.

Should I waste my time?

I don’t think you’ll need to but it’ll definitely help. Especially for the final boss battle.

If by waste your time you mean play the GOAT RPG game, then yes.

Yes and it had one of the coolest guides at the time:

PDF Version of Guide

I still have the original guide, unfortunately the binding glue wore thin over time so the pages are all kind of loose

I rented it as a kid and you had to put 10 dollars down extra to get the guide so I never used it. Loved it. I've beaten it a few times and actually played it again about 2 years ago and loved it just as much. Pretty funny game but also can be difficult at times.

I didn't need the guide at all but I would love to look at one just to see what's in it.

Oh damn didn't know it is on the 3DS. Would be fun to dust off my Pokemon machine but I want to trip on the big screen.

RDR2 doesn't have me as pumped to play a game as this Earthbound.

The theroies around this games story are just as interesting as this game.

Had to stop reading.

Yea it kinda sucks you had to see the AVGN video on it. I have watched that 40 minute video of his twice now. It's such a great game. I have been meaning to the play the "third" one that fans translated but with RDR2 coming I'll have to just wait.

Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, and Zelda: Link to the Past are SNES GOATS.

Earthbound and Chrono Trigger are my top 2. I got the 3DS version of Chrono Trigger years ago. Only thing I used the 3DS for. Such a fantastic game.

I have the physical copy of Earthbound and Chrono Trigger for SNES and still have the original Earthbound guide.

Forgot to add that one of my favorite parts in that Earthbound AVGN review is he checks online and just says "Oh ok, It's just one of the greatest RPG's ever made!"

That video proves the whole thing about Earthbound. Here is a guy who makes a nice living on knowing old school games and he had like zero idea about it. I mean I know there are some games he completely misses like he had to think hard and long about "Tecmo Bowl" when he saw a quick clip of it in one video.

Reading up on the game's music is pretty cool as well once you start digging deep into the game.

Just like Donnie Darko right?

Best movie ever but didn't get credit in it's time!

One of those games I played multiple times but don't think I ever finished. I got right up to the end, but my brother was playing at the same time and I watched him beat. Just never did it myself.

My favorite food was lasagna.

Game was friggin great.

I'm upset I saw the last boss. But couldn't stop watching that Nerd episode.

The game seems like one of those lifetime experiences only a handful of games can give you.

Just the sound does something to me. That opening sequence where you leave your house to investigate the meteor and it has all those old spacey sound effects going, I get goosebumps every time.
