4X RTS. Made by the developers of Northgard (which I played a little while but not a ton)

Haven't got to play much but the base engine and gameplay seems fun. The games are long for an RTS but short for a 4X. Most people are saying 3-5 hours per game.

$30 early access and if the developers support it as well as they did Northgard we will be getting lots of updates over the next few years. The core game is already there they will just be tweaking it and adding things on top of the base game im sure.

I don’t think I’m willing to pay $30 for early access, but I’m certainly interested in seeing how development goes.

You can get a Steam key for around $24 on Green Man Gaming right now. It's already discounted to $25 or so and at least for me I get XP rewards and stuff and have an additional 3% off coupon code.

I would recommend trying it to anyone that is remotely interested. It is 4X but plays more like company of heroes than civilization. Also can pause the game at any time so it's easy to learn to play.

I played Dune 2000 many, many years ago. Was incredibly fun.

Was Starcraft before Starcraft.

Was that the one where you had to put the foundation down before building?

Played it for a hour today and enjoyed it so far. I could see it possibly becoming a little overwhelming as things start to expand but so far so good.

I've been using the Freemen. Circling around with infiltrators to take out the ranged units works well
