Anyone who has experience with the first or seen some gameplay, what seems like the most fun/accessible?
Posted on 3/21/24 at 12:14 pm to Thundercles
Also curious about this. Any Dogma alums want to break them down for us?

Any of you over paying for this single player with micros suck.

I’m with you on single player games having mtx is a joke but gamers have lost that war so you just have to live with it.

It's only because gamers put up with it. If they'd stop buying the games, publishers would stop pulling this shite.

As an update. I started as a Fighter. Picked up Warrior for a bit but I found I actually prefer Fighter.
If I do that again I would probably do archer.

In DD1 a certain TD gaming board poster made extensive use of my excellent pawn in his world and left me a rotten fish as a reward. Yeah I'm still sour about it, but I will still play DD2.

Going mage but have all 4 evocations in my group with pawns. Where are the micro transactions? I legit haven’t seen them yet.

I haven't either. I had to go looking for them.
I think the most obvious ones are being able to buy Rift Crystals. But unless you're trying to hire OP pawns, you don't need Rift Crystals. There are infinite free pawns.
Fast travel abilities (maybe)? It seems like fast travel is supposed to be sparesely used, but if you don't want to hike around everywhere you can it seems pay money to ge more ferrystones.
Character editing-- it's either very expensive in game or you can buy a book with real life that makes it free.
I bought the Deluxe edition so started off with an absurd amount of rift crystals and a character editor book - so I guess I unwittingly prepaid the microtransactions - and they don't make fast travel a real option so i have committed to walking /ox carting everywhere. I truly don't understand the uproar.

there's a petty streamer/content creator bitch fight going on right now in the Youtube/Twitch community. Sounds like a bunch of 23 year old women going back and forth about this mtx thing.

I'm playing it now and it's a decent game, but not really enjoying the long hikes and constantly being almost overweight all the time. If they would've added just a few fast travel points at the big areas and made it so you don't have weight limits on your inventory, it would make the game so much better imo. I get having it on souls game when your wanting to go with a heavy sword and armor you have to invest in endurance to up that, but to weigh you down for just carrying materials is stupid. I get you can send materials to your pawns, but still they get heavy quickly, as well.

I think the bigger problem is the inventory system sucks a good bit so it’s a pain to send things back and forth.
I don’t mind the walking so much. I always wanted to have a no fast travel Skyrim run but lacked the willpower.

How is this? Really interested in picking it up, but seeing mixed reviews. Some of the footage looks really good.

The game is a blast for me. The combat is fun and I enjoy the world.
The story is a little weak so far. The game doesn't really push you toward the quest very much and you can end up wandering all over the map just killing things and having a fair amount of fun, so I've done very little main questing.
Side quests are also relatively uninteresting so far. They don't put a lot of energy into the narratives it seems.
People have said it starts to become a slog at about 30 hours in as fast travel is quite limited so you end up doing a lot of walking. I am just about to hit that time frame so TBD on my thoughts there.

I just can't get into it. I hate walking 10 minutes to go somewhere for a quest only to have to walk back 10 minutes to the same area when I finish the quest. Constantly having to rest and almost always being overweight sucks. I'm going to finish it , but apparently this just isn't my type of game. The combat is pretty good, but I much prefer the souls type of combat.

the pawn system is pretty fun and combat has been fun.
as other have said, fast travel is pretty limited, and story so far is pretty standard fare.
however its got a good exploration vibe to it. i don't mind walking around and looking into every nook and cranny. that's fun for me. the item management thing i can see being tedious for some but it also doesnt other me much.

I’m trying to decide between this and Lords of the Fallen. I need something to play. I do like exploring.

I’d do Lords of the Fallen first if you like Souls.
The quest “ visit fulvio in battahl” is obviously meant for later in the game lol. I spent hours tracking to Battahl through caves then found out I’m way too early. I did get to buy a sweet greatsword that was like 5 times the damage

It’s pretty cheap right now too. I appreciate all of the feedback from you guys. I will probably get both sooner than later.
Is DD2 like an open world combat RPG where you’re leveling up?

Exactly that. Combat is really fun. You can pretty freely switch classes back and forth, though buying advanced gear for all is prohibitively expensive.
Level up both overall stats and class rank which unlocks more abilities in that class.
You have a main sidekick (pawn) that levels up with you and then you swap out two others as you level up, and you're actually choosing from other players' main pawns.
