I did the first Hospital area and now I'm not nearly as motivated to boot the game up

Much better. They nailed the environment. But the original is still amazing. Especially if you're on PC and download the Enhanced Edition mod. It's the definitive way to play original Silent Hill 2. Looks great in 4k.

Was absolutely loving the game but now I’m in the 2nd world apartments. Got ramshacked and made to play through a bunch of bull shite over and over until
I can beat it. I can’t stand this type of crap in games and it takes me so far out of the story telling and Emerson’s experience

The game is shite. Unless it’s bugged. It’s making me play through a very long segment of the game with hardly any life and no way to save. The first part of the game has very many auto saves. I have gone through the same area over and over and over and just come up short and die only for the game to be like haha frick you, do it all over again. It’s drastically changed my mind on the game and I’m actually starting to hate it. It went from a 10 to a hard 4.

Ok that review I posted was right. Every section in this game goes on for too long. You get to a new place and find a 4-floor map with a gazillion rooms and its pitch black, it just gets exhausting. Wish they had trimmed the fat
Think I'm close to the end

I think the "90s" video setting makes the game look better but that also makes it even harder to see in the indoor areas.
I'm in the otherworld apartments now and they did a good job with the aesthetics there.
My opinion is more positive than negative so far.

Horror is my favorite game genre--more specifically, survival horror, with RE being my favorite franchise. I love the retro-survival titles like Tormented Souls and the Puppet Combo/Torture Star games. But, man, I bought the HD Silent Hill 2 remake last year due to the overwhelming love that particular game gets, and I just couldn't. I wound up putting the game down once I made it to the apartment building. The love for that game is just completely lost on me.

Remake is an entirely different beast. Give it a shot

A bit off-topic, but I'm starting this tonight and I'm really excited.

Good luck! I'm currently on rage hiatus from it because of having to redo an entire section due to a lack of saves. I'm sure I'll come back to it soon as I was finally starting to get into it.

Thank you, I'll keep the saves issue in mind!

Tormented Souls is the best true survival horror to come out in many years. It's basically a modern version of your late 90s PS1 survival horror games. Great art design, legitimately spooky, and the puzzles are hard af (I had to use a guide a couple of times)

Wow, they really did a good job with the prison and the part with Angela's dad.
