BS, there is always a choice.

Long ethernet cables, or move the router closer to the console if not in same room and make other things use WiFi.

Unless you max your ports like I have.

Smart TV, PS4, Computer, 2TB cloud storage. My XBONE is the odd man out now and will be over wifi. Ive thought about running a 2nd router connected to the all in one router they gave me. But then I have to deal with double routing and port forwarding. So I said screw it.

Madden, Destiny, COD were all digital for me.

I bought them at work on the day of release (Day 0 for COD) I started the download via the phone app at about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. It was ready for me when I got home at 530-6.

With these absurd file sizes we will run out of space. I was just pissed that even using the disc it installs that much on the HDD.

Notice I say not as near as people think. PC has gone 99% digital and it works great. Sony and Microsoft are slowly getting in to it..

You'd be surprised at how many people still buy physical PC releases. Digital is definitely the majority, but physical games still account for a large bit of marketshare.

Last year, 92% of PC game sales were digital.

I'm assuming you're quoting this: LINK

It's a forecasting agency, not a tracker. They also aren't referencing direct sales through a marketplace like Steam, but overall downloads including things like Dota 2 and League of Legends.

Edit: Also, keep in mind that for the US, digital PC sales didn't exceed physical PC sales until 2010. Even then, it did less revenue. LINK

Edit 2: Finding recent articles on this has been incredibly difficult. Most of what you find is just surveys rather than any actual data.

Yeah that's the original article. I don't know how reputable they are but IGN and several other sites have referenced the article so I assumed it was credible.

I don't think it's far-fetched that physical sales could drop that quickly. Here's an article from 2012 that references NPD data LINK

Despite declines in physical format spending of 16 percent from Q3 2011, strong growth in digital format spending, up 22 percent

I used to be a die hard box in hand guy until I got into Steam. I can't remember the last game I bought at a store, it's been years.

But I can see it for the console people with limited hard drive space.

The article you linked has little to do with PC though. That digital growth is driven by facebook, mobile, tablet game growth versus traditional gaming.

That's what I saying earlier. Very little actual data (not just YoY changes) on it. Oh well.

Everything that has gone digital experienced a backlash from people that want the physical version. Console games will be mostly digital in the next few years. I think I saw an article where it's already at ~20% now.

I'm all digital on my xbox. Several reasons: convenience, sharing purchases with a friend, and just the fact that I never wanted to trade in used games on my 360 until it was worthless to do it.

They are bound to provide a better solution to sharing digital purchases and/or detaching keys from your account for resale. Or at least I hope so...

Obviously my 99% figure was not meant to be taken literally. I think the point was made though. It doesn't happen overnight but eventually it gets there. Digital can be the future and still have physical though.
