Does anyone consider Zelda: A Link to the Past one of the best of the series?

I'm downloading it from the Nintendo eShop right now on the Wii U for my son and I'm reminiscing on how much fun I had playing it on SNES 23 years ago. He beat Hyrule Warriors and Windwaker already but I told him Ocarina of Time is my personal favorite (which they don't have on the eShop )

Did anyone else enjoy A Link to the Past as much as I did? Which Zelda games are the best so we can find them and try them out of I didn't play them?

I played that game so many times. When it shifted to the dark world my mind was blown. The game felt like it would never end. That was first Zelda I remember completely and I loved it

You certainly aren't the only one. I'm in the minority, but I just don't find it as enjoyable as some of the newer ones.

There's nothing "wrong" with it, mind you. I just didn't play it as a kid, so I have no nostalgic feelings for it. I don't think it's bad, but I also don't think it's so hard to believe that Nintendo may have, you know, learned how to improve some things in over 20 years. The meat of Link to the Past is the dungeons, and I think they make better dungeons now than they did then.

Again, all just my thoughts, and I know I'm definitely one of few, but you asked.

Majora's Mask is a masterpiece to the umpteenth degree. It was really somewhat of a screw up with the developers cause they were on a timed schedule and had to recycle a bunch of OOT shite xD But those two games will always be the ones I'm attached to because of my childhood. Twilight Princess is my favorite though. I grew so attached to Midna that I cried in a corner for days because of that ending. :'(

This is what I don't like as much about zelda now. I feel like they aren't as dungeon heavy as they used to be.

There aren't as many dungeons, sure, but I think each one is pretty high quality. When I play LTTP, they all feel so rudimentary compared to later games. LTTP is definitely hard, but not because the dungeons are designed to be particularly difficult (you just take a crap ton of damage from everything).

Also, if Link Between Worlds is any indication, you may have plenty more dungeons to look forward to. When I play that game I think "this must be what LTTP fans remember that game being like back in the day". And LBW is one of my favorites so I know where you're coming from, I just think Nintendo has gotten better at making the dungeons themselves.

My son said he's waiting on this to come out on 3DS. I never played it on N64 because we were busy playing games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark multiplayer.

Go into the original Wii dashboard, go to it's shop, and buy it there

Wind Waker was a let down in that department

Yes Wind Waker needed more dungeons and less triforce fetch quests
