Do you think we need a solid Civil War era game?

RTS, FPS, MMORPG or anything else.
I went to Vicksburg yesterday to tour the Civil War National Park, and with all of the awesome campaigns that happened during the war, if done right, an excellent game could be built.
Maybe have it be a RTS where you begin playing at the conception of the Civil War, and you have to pick a side and guide them into the various battles of the war. You could lead the North or South to victory, and the game would play out accordingly.
Just some musings on the subject.

History Channel: Civil War
From what I hear and read in some circles is this game is not as bad as the ratings gave it. Many believe this game got poor reviews due to the fact that you have to reload your rifle after every shot and this took away from the game. That is what some like about it because it was realistic. I have never played.

Maybe the Total War series could take this on. That line of games seems to be the best at blending strategy and battlefield tactics. The battlefield action isn't perfect (tends to be a little too orderly) but it beats the hell out of RTS format, which isn't realistic on ANY level at all.
I've you've played and beaten one RTS, you've beaten them all.

It would be dumb bc it would take too long to reload weapons...

The Call of Duty series should develop a Civil War aka War between the States game

They toyed with the idea of a SIMS: Plantation Life game, but for some unknown reason it fell through.

I think the subject is too touchy...unless you guys are cool with getting beaten. I would not be in favor of a civil war game where the confederacy could win FWIW and I doubt many of you guys would jump at the chance to play a north campaign where you defeat the south.

That is retarded IMO. There are WWII Games where the Germans can win. I guess we have to stop making WWII Games.
It's just a game

Ok, name some because I cant think of any off the top of my head.
EDIT: If it was a RTS then it would be cool, but a campaign type FPS

There actually already is a very good Civil War game out there. It is similar to the tactical battle part of Total War, although MUCH better (and more realistic) IMO. The smallest unit you control is a regiment, so it does away with issues you'd have controlling one soldier (like reloading).
It's called Take Command, and you can read about it here.

See point #1; no one takes it personal.

Why not? It's not an endorsement of slavery or anything

I would intentionally sabotage the Union effort.
