I'm 35 and gaming is not the same as it used to be for me.
I do enjoy reading about lore of certain games as well. I also enjoy watching streamers play games too.
The games I do enjoy playing are MMO's (mostly WoW and some Eve Online) and I recently started playing Destiny2. I play most of the other blizzard games occasionally and really enjoy RPGs like Skyrim/Witcher/Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2
I think though it has become more important that I am playing with someone most of the time with exceptions to a few of those single player RPGs listed.
Because life is so busy with work/wife/ 2 kiddos..My social life is very much gaming with friends. I think this is why I am loving DnD now more than gaming.
I get the epic story arc and rpg elements but also a rich in person social battery charge up.
SO It has become way less about "beating that hard/awesome game" and more about shooting the shite with other gamers arounda table/discord server"

I’m a certified old fart at 48 and I still enjoy playing games when I get the chance. When I’m kicking arse as a medieval warrior or running up the score on some random 12 year old online, I’m not worried about deadlines or staying on budget. It’s an escape. Throw in some beer and you’ve got a party.

I have lost interest in online shooters for sure. I find myself searching for the lost high that I once got from games. RPG's and good single player games are what I normally find myself going towards.
I still buy them all by the frickton though.

I'm over 40 and still enjoy it, but it depends on the game. The games I USED to enjoy are different than the games I enjoy now.
Previously I was all about MMOs and multiplayer FPS. These days it's more a single FPS (Overwatch) and single-player RPGs (Fallout, Elder Scrolls, etc).

You're not old yet, but give it some time and you might get there. I'm a 57 yr old gamer that'll die one day with a controller in my hand.

It's not a personal problem, it's all about a part of becoming old.
Instead of playing a game, enjoying game is preferable in this age.

Yeah, interest in gaming depends on the game. If a match your expectation, you will easily find interest in it.

I've found myself enjoying off-line single player games a lot more in the last few years. I still want to enjoy a competitive fps but I just don't have the desire to deal with learning all the meta and shite. I have a hard time just casually playing shooters...
And anytime I've tried to play something like Destiny I always end up way too far behind from the group of friends I'm playing with because I don't play for 3 or 4 days...
Although, If you get me in a room with Momo and we start playing CoD or some shite, the itch all comes back to me.

I'm probably the old guy here (57).
I still log in but it's more for the social aspect. I've played several MMO's over the years and made quite a few friends so I like to catch up with them. I'll still log in and play when an expansion comes out but it's limited to a few hours a week at most and many weeks much less.
