Diablo 3 is a very different game than Diablo 2. You kill multiple monsters at once and the camera view is isometric. Other than that, it didn't give much of anything to fans of Diablo 2. They made a new type of game for a new audience and didn't really show much respect for the genre defining principals of its predecessor. They also butchered the story.
The hate on it goes beyond just having a bad first 6 months.
It's a classic case of the common situation in media: "it's a good game, just not a good Diablo game".
It's certainly a playable game and if you've never played it you will get some enjoyment out of it. Just don't expect a deep character building experience

Simply put the equipment/loot/set pieces were all shite because blizzard wanted you to buy them.
I'll never forgive or forget running through the entire campaign and getting no legendaries or sets.

I want this game to be good but the itemization is basically D3 and that’s why D3 sucked so bad. I can’t believe they are keeping that type of itemization. D1 has better itemization than D3The gameplay looks like a reskin of D3 as well. I think asmondgold put it best, everything looks pretty good but nothing is great.

This isn't worth $100 plus another $60+ for the game.
The box is awesome, but 2 fake candles is the collectors item? Lol pass.

It's actually one candle holder. They are just showing you the front and back of it.

At least they made the decision easy.

My body is so ready.
Even though I pre-ordered I doubt I play the beta since nothing carries over to full game I don't want to re-grind all of act 1 over again at launch.

I'm as big of a Diablo fan as one can get. I've grinded thousands of hours in each game including more than I care to admit in Immortal. I was invited to the closed beta. It was just the end game portion, but meh... I'm sure it will be fun but just the small sample I played didn't blow me away. Itemization is still lacking. The new skill tree is slightly better than what they tried in D3. There are actually some mechanics to some of the dungeon boss fights. I think it'll be better than D3, but not sure it is going to be as good D2 or PoE. I'm sure I'll still put in thousands of hours into this installment just like I have in all the others.

It will take a lot of my time either way. Fav game series.

What version are you guys getting?
Posted on 3/16/23 at 10:15 am to southpawcock
I picked up a pc copy. Digital deluxe.
I don’t think anything can top my experience with Diablo 2 at launch but I’m interested to try the beta for a few hours this weekend.

Is that the $89.99 one? And why for God’s sake are they adding Battle Passes to Diablo IV?
Posted on 3/16/23 at 10:44 am to southpawcock
Yeah, the 90 dollar one.
The perks are getting access 4 days earlier and faster progression on battle pass.
The fortnite model spread like a cancer. I probably should have just bought standard because I doubt I’ll be a “power user” but I hate snails pace progression, so I guess I’m contributing to this retardation.

Did y’all see the dev video they posted today? Looks pretty bad.
Posted on 3/16/23 at 10:18 pm to Master Guilbeau
I downloaded the KFC app, made an order for tomorrow then canceled it after I got the beta code. It’s redeemed on my Battlenet account (PC) and I can see it and can pre-install (which I never do). But glad to have found an easy way to get this without paying shite.

So I just saw the dev video from the other day. Game is basically a carbon copy of D3. This is going to suck. Will be curious to hear some reviews from beta
