I can do heroic but I read that the chalice ha to be upgraded to get the catalyst to fall.

I'm not sure. I thought it was an auto drop on the first heroic completion.

ETA: Chalice has to be masterworked. Says so in the catalyst triumphs. I ran a few heroics before i checked. Did get a cool masterworked sub though.
