Totes will relate everything to PVP. Understand that.
PVP right around house of wolves was the most fun for him
But there was some serious issues during that time too.
1 shot body shot snipes
Crazy long shotgunning
Thorn
Firebolt grenades.
I could go on and on.
Taken Kings was probably the best time for PVE though.

I wouldn't say vastly superior.
Thorn was the gayest meta there was. And the Suros meta was always gay as hell.
At least in year 3 there were multiple guns of a weapon type that were usable.

I will take Thorn and Suros all day if it means I can use bladedancer/last word/sniper again.
I highly enjoy Destiny 2's PVP right now though.

People bringing up Thorn and Suros, but do you remember the original OP weapons? Fusions.
Fusions were so good when the game launched that they were nerfed as soon as possible, then nerfed again and never made a comeback until Destiny 2. You could map people with them. Also people who got lucky and was able to RNG an early Vex Mythoclast. That thing melted before the first nerf.

Thorn/blink shotty/spear were all annoying, but, in hindsight, was vastly superior to anything in year 3.

Bladedance's hit registration was such arse in year 3
But that double skip grenade exotic was OP as shite. Nothing I hated more than playing against three Bladedancers who all had those on.

I have a problem putting Destiny 2 that high and I feel like the media creators have proven that.
A lot of the top streamers from D1 aren't even playing anymore, or are playing a lot less.

Autos are for sure top tier right now.
Along with slow RPM Subs, burst sidearms, 180 or 200 RPM Scouts and Lincoln Green.
But I will take that over the massive shotty game D1 became or the latter on sidearm/sticky nade fest.

Still haven't gotten one yet.

The Last Dance is a good alternate. Basically the same gun. Some even like the faster movement you get from it when strafing more.

Last hope shreds up close. I think the Autos have way too much range right now. Other than that, I don't mind the balance right now. Pulse rifles are almost non-existent right now unless it is the vigilance wing, which is disappointing. They were awesome in the beta.

Mine didn't drop until last weekend. But the trials SMG is similar. Just does not have kill clip which is my favorite perk right now.
