Not that Hero Soul - that’s several free levels that will give you a much easier start.
My hope is most people will use them right away and lose them before they can level up.

Ugh, absolutely disgusting. I know their argument is "People just go check youtube or something, this makes it more efficient" but the idea of being able to push a button and just get hints or even flat out solutions in game will be a siren's song leading weak willed players to ruin their experience.
I hope FromSoftware keeps this shite out of their titles and this is only in there because this remake is being handled by a different company.
99.9% of games are pitifully easy. Can we really not have ONE series of games that isn't hand holdy? Not one?

It seems like something that will be big for Sony 1st party games, similar to how they’re making platinums a joke for all major releases

Alright, let the downvotes flow, but I caved and canceled my physical pre-order and purchased the Digital Deluxe version.
I'm sure the exclusive armor sets and weapon will suck (or at least won't be anything special), but what if they're actually decent or perfect my fashion souls look? I'd be kicking myself for not spending the extra $20.

I don't know. The more footage I see of this, the less I like it. I think it will do a good job of showing off what the PS5 can do, but there seem to be a lot of misguided character redesigns, additional sounds, and extra effects.
And while some of the environments look great, others look just a little too colorful.
I'll probably end up trying it out eventually regardless, but I wish they'd be a little more conservative with their changes.

I absolutely hate the HUD, looks way too generic video game. Doesn't really fit the vibe of the game at all. Everything is too crisp and clean and sleek, its the same problem the fonts they used.
Little things like that matter to the atmosphere more than you'd think. The in game world look good, it's the little stuff they seemed to have not realized need to match the tone and as best I can tell it doesn't.

Yep. The lack of 6th world, pay for souls and messed up atmosphere have saved me about $600. Won’t need next gen till Elden Ring at this rate.

The dev team has actually been pretty responsive to fan feedback. There's a lot of griping about how bizarrely modern and un-Soulslike the HUD looks. I would not be surprised if they added a toggle for a more traditional Demon Souls HUD in the future, should be a very easy feature to implement. Here's hoping anyway.

Also apparently the terms "male" and "female" are now considered offensive. The character creation screen doesn't contain a choice for gender. The male and female selection is now a generic "Body Type A" and "Body Type B" option. Only 2 groupings though, how very backwards of them. Choosing your gender really be about 25 multi-dimensional sliders. Still waiting on my attack helicopter choice.

The remake is GORGEOUS. Definitely a great showcase for what "next gen" is going to be.
So, for those wondering about the Digital Deluxe exclusive items...the armor sets are pretty trash, although they look nice (so, yay, fashion souls). The reaper scythe and the burial blade are very cool, and I'm actually rocking the burial blade (two handed) with my Royalty starting class. Burial blade only requires 12 strength and flattens regular enemies.
I only went through the tutorial area and up the steps at Boletarian Palace and everything looks very cool. The soul arrow is a little too Star Wars-ish for my taste, but it's still super OP.
