So, I have enjoyed the game, but I’ve grown very weary of it as I’ve reached the end, and that isn’t because of the traversing and road building.

Those are the things I want to do.

The story and forced activities are what wears on me.

Constantly being shut out of the fast travel system because I have to do certain activities so I can then continue to be forced out of the fast travel system.

Maybe I am just aging out of this stuff, I don’t know, but don’t be an open world while also requiring linear progression.

That drives me up the wall.

Yeah i understand why devs do that but it rarely seems to improve my experience.

The only time it should ever be used is the absolute end game where a little prompt pops up stating that this is the end game and you will not be able to use certain mechanics once started.

Otherwise, it is tiresome.

And the worst part of it all is that this complete freeze shows up right after the most annoying part of the game, the snow region.

It is as if the devs wanted me to stop playing.

Also, I am over this story.

I have determined that Kojima just isn’t for me. It is too strange. Too out there.

And it drags as a motherfricker.

It just keeps going and going. fricking hell.

Just let it end so I can get back to enjoying the game.

Why won’t the story fricking end?!

I feel like I have been at the “endgame” for the last 30% of this game.

ETA: Sorry to everyone who likes the story, but is the weakest part of the game.

It is hyper-philosophical nonsense.

I take it you never played DS1?

DS2 actually wraps up quite quickly compared to DS1

I officially believe that Kojima has gone insane.

This story makes zero sense.

That motherfricker is on some really good acid.

I would pay good money to sit in one of the meetings where he went over this.

“Ok, look guys, there will be whales, BUT the whales will swim upside down!”

“Brilliant!”

“Visionary!”

There's no story to speak of. It's straight nonsense.

I was the biggest Kojima fan prior to DS1. After that, it made me realize how much work Konami had to do to keep him in check and how badly he needs an editor.

DS1's dialogue consists of characters just saying the same things over and over in slightly different ways.

Deadman: 'Bridge babies aren't truly alive because their mothers are brain dead. They're acquired via C-section and thus straddle the line between birth and death, giving them the ability to sense the BTs.

Die Hardman: "In other words, bridge babies are neither alive nor dead, due to their mothers' minds being dead yet their bodies still being alive, so this closeness to death allows them to sense the BTs.

Deadman: "Yes, because the bridge babies are not completely born, but are also not dead, they develop extrasensory powers that we harness to detect BTs, but the mothers are brain dead and are thus also not alive, but neither are they truly dead"

Every single conversation follows that exact same format. Kojima has some really cool ideas but presents them in the worst possible way with as many words as possible.

I started the DS2 5hr trial to see if I'll like it more and I have to say, the little codex they provide is very well written.

Based on the rest of your post, there’s very little chance you’ll like DS2 more

Completely agree.

It is all nonsense.

There is no flow. No cohesion.

Story aspects just “appear”.

One of my biggest issues is pacing.

Near the end of the game, I’m driving quickly to my destination in what is supposed to be an intense moment.

What does Kojima do?

He stops your vehicle so Tarman can give you a backstory moment.

The game was pissing me off more and more as I neared the end.

Dude, Kojima can’t name for shite.

Here are the characters:

Fragile
Tomorrow
Tarman
Deadman
Heartman
Rainy
Die-Hardman

And, yes, each of their names describes their “special nature”.

For example, Rainy makes it fricking rain.

Die Hardman is one of the funniest things of all time, I remember when it was revealed during a character announcement trailer everyone was just losing their minds. The most Kojima of Kojima names
