Are they repositioning back to 1? It looks like sales for the sequel were not close to the original.
I really couldn't get into 2 like I did with the original. I look forward to heading back to.....

I have tried to get into 2 also but I just can't. I have yet to beat 1 but I still love it and won't complain about more DLC for it!

I have not played the sequel, but apparently it had vastly different gameplay mechanics.

They made a hard game harder. Making it more difficult to deal with stress, infighting between teammates while adding the whole stage coach roguelike mechanic. Clearly from the sales people didn't like the changes.
Interesting. They sold a ton more of Darkest Dungeon but the initial price was much lower and the game was always on sale for even cheaper so it looks like they made more money on 2 but I assume they thought they were going to make a huge pile more and didn't because total sales weren't remotely close to the original.

Oddly enough, I just started my first real playthrough of this game. If I enjoy it, I'll probably grab all the dlc for another round.

Don't bother with the crimson court dlc but rest are good

I love the Crimson Court.
I find the Endless Farmstead way more stress inducing.

i watched this game, not something i would play, but interesting to see played. but the ending of the last one, with the solar system shite was kind of out of place for the game.

Alright, I'm starting to get it. I've beat the first boss in two regions and have a few level 3 heroes.

Nice! It's definitely not an easy game. I recommend playing on the easiest level but even then you will still lose. The game stresses me out... but in a good way.

I don’t know what they were thinking with the sequel. It’s like they took everything people liked about the first game and threw that out

I think what they thought is people love hard games but I wonder how many players have loaded up with mods to make it easier.
When I replay, I always pop on a few mods that make it less of a stressful pain in the arse like inventory stacking.

Starting to get level 5 heroes. Running veteran dungeons with no issues. I was expecting a difficulty spike in dungeons but haven't really felt it. I'm not having any issues managing stress without a Jester.
I do need to do a better job managing quirks, but overall, this has not been as difficult as I expected. I remind myself overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
