endurance, vitality, strength, dex
depending on how you play some are probably more pivotal than others

So, does anyone know what the negative effects of being hollowed are? Maybe I missed an explanation in-game, but I have no idea.

Hollowed(undead) is how your character starts out. You can collect humanity which offer curse reduction and better chance on rare drops. You can use humanity to become "human" which offers you assistance on some bosses(garg) and joining certain covenants.

If you are a sadist, then you will love this game. It is going to take me a looooooooooooong time to beat this game, I really don't need to be stressed out with gaming so I'm going to be shelfing this until later.

I think you pick up that item in the beginning of the game after taurus demon, I was actually in the sewers in human form and someone invaded me to take my humanity but I killed him, near the boss they had people who wanted to be summon so they could help me out on the boss fight.
