D&D Beginner Recommendations for 8 yo

Can anyone point me to a set with a book, a board, and some figurines that is "beginner" level? I'm not looking for the figurines that you have to paint or a board you have to build, but something more "right out of the box" please.

D&D Starter Set
Something like this?
So, we already have that one, it was a great introductory, looking to move to next level, and have figurines.

You don't have to use traditional figurines to play; some toys work just as well for both scenery and sometimes figurines.
Otherwise you're wanting the following:
Required (Especially for newer players)
Player's Handbook
Monster Manual
Recommended
Dungeon Master's Guide
* This will help the person running the game.
**OR**
DM's Guide plus Terrain Case
The terrain case has a lot of items to make maps for playing on.
** Alternatively **
Game mat
* Lots of folks will simply draw their dungeons on mats like these
For your monsters, possibly something like this:
Assorted miniatures
* Painting isn't a big deal for monsters, honestly
I recommend that, after you get their characters created, you get with the kids and help them find a mini for their characters.
You can go to Hero Forge and custom build one, but that might be overkill. If there are no gaming shops near you, just go onto Amazon and search "Painted Miniature"

Lost Mines is very good but also another starter set. If he's wanting to continue on with a character I would advise Curse of Stradh if he doesn't have a problem with some horror. I'm assuming you're running the game so clean out the stuff that you don't want your 8 year old experiencing.
If horror is a problem or he doesn't mind starting a new character then Waterdeep Dragonheist would be my next suggestion. 1-5 with a good mix of mystery, role playing, problem solving, and combat.
Both of those modules have prepainted miniatures from Wizkids. I would recommend buying the singles you want from an online vendor instead of buying the boxes because they're random 4 miniatures per box.

For 8 year olds, you really should stick to the starter/beginner sets (there are multiple out there for 5e now) or get a D&D-like board game.
Hasbro came out with a reprint of HeroQuest last year:
LINK
It has several expansions.
There are also many of these games out:
LINK
They are VERY watered down but easy for kids. There is value in a set like this though even if your kid only plays it 5 or 6 times, in that if you price out how much you will pay buying mini's these games actually offer you the cheapest "per mini price" that you can find. So grabbing a few games like this gives you a huge jump start on minis for a reasonable price.
ETA: the decision to paint mini's is yours and yours alone. Nothing requires it...ever.

Careful…D&D isn’t the product it used to be, they have become quite “woke” if you’re not into that sort of thing.
However, saying that, you can probably find some pre-painted minis from Wiz Kids. You might even be able to find these at Barnes & Noble.
I also think they may have a younger-aged rule set you can find.
Check out your friendly local gaming store.

Woke is easier to ignore in a fantasy setting with magic and shite.
They're nowhere near as bad as white wolf became with the vampire games

Maybe so, but since they are getting rid of alignment and racial traits between playable races…it’s going to change gameplay, unless you house rule everything or play older printings of books.
