Controversial opinion: The Old Republic is better than Kotor 1 and 2

Just because of Wrath's story. Playing as the Emperor's Wrath, you get this long and connected plot where you're whole life feels like it was brought together to serve the most powerful Sith to ever exist, and then destroy him. I don't wanna go into spoilers or anything, but I'm a fan of Vitiate/Valkorian, and how it tied the life of Revan and Meetra Surik (the exile) together by explaining how Revan fell and why Kreia wanted to kill the force in Kotor 2.
The scope and scale of the story was fantastic, part of the reason I also enjoyed Inquisition. Frankly I've enjoyed every Bioware game except for Anthem.

It may be. I just wish I enjoyed MMOs enough to play it.

I guess it also depends on what you value more in an RPG. For me, if im gripped by the story, then I usually can get along with almost any gameplay decision. Conversely, I usually cant enjoy even excellent gameplay if the plot is bad. (Looking at you Halo 5)
Thats the whole reason why I dislike Jedi:Fallen Order, even though I desperately want to love it. Cal just sucks as a character, and thats a shame.

And you're saying that an MMO's story is better than KOTOR?

It might be the only MMO that I would ever say that about, especially as it tied in so we'll into Kotor 1 and 2.

The nice thing about it is that there are 8 different storylines based on the classes - and you don't have to group up or really grind all that much. Just enjoy the storylines. I've played through all 8 and had a blast.
The Empire Operative was my favorite storyline.

The problem with TOR is that they have shoe horned in a lot of new content that is kind of meh.
I am not knocking them by the way. The Old Republic is, well, an old game. You want to keep the player base but at the same time you don't want to spend top dollar to hire developers to keep an old game fresh. Star Trek Online is in the same boat.
The Old Republic is a fantastic MMO but it is elderly at this point. WoW is magnificent but it is even older. At some point you need to cut bait and start with something fresh and new.
Mind you, I think WoW, for all its flaws, is still generating a ton of revenue so it might last for several more years.

I enjoyed Old Republic but it got stale going to every planet and everything is always leveled up to you no matter what. I actually liked going back in wow through noob zones and being able to one shot everything along my way.

I can’t figure out why I love KOTOR but can’t get into Neverwinter Nights
