Sorry I’m sure this question comes up but I’m on my phone. Looking to purchase a console to occupy my time during this whole social distancing period.

Last system I owned was the original Xbox back in college. Mostly played Halo, NCAA, and Tiger Woods.

Any console y’all would recommend for an old fart like me? I don’t need anything super powerful/expensive. Is there much or a difference between the PS4 and XB 360 when it comes to game selections? What about the low/high end models?

You're better off getting a PS4 over an XBox One since the PS4 has a way better selection of games. Whether you want to get the higher end models is totally up to you. I have a PS4 Pro and much prefer it to my original PS4. Better specs, more memory, etc.

If you like Nintendo games a lot, get a Switch. It didn't sound like you do from your post tho.

I was in a similar boat and got a ps4. It’s an excellent system. Depending on what kind of games you like, I recommend either a ps4 or a switch.

Cheap Xbox and a game pass sub would be a pretty good way to go

The PS5 is supposedly due out later this year (who knows with Corona) and it's overwhelmingly believed that it will be backwards compatibility with PS4.

So yeah, go PS4 unless you wanna hold off a few more months and potentially just get the PS5 (which will also serve as a PS4).

It’s supposed to be backwards compatible?

I don't think it's been officially confirmed by Sony yet, but all the analysts and insiders are saying it's gonna be.

You have one too eh? I got one with the RDR2 bundle in November 2018 but then built my new PC January 2019. Poor PS4... I hardly touched it, but continued to buy a few games for it to try and get into it. I just can't.. I have God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Tetris Effect, FIFA 19, Uncharted series, and RDR2 which I never got past Chapter 2 on PS4. Beat it in a month on PC.

I've had 3 Pros and 1 regular PS4.

Purchased the RDR2 bundle because it came with the new model. That model runs much cooler and quieter than previous PS4 Pro models.

But no need for it now, I haven't played it in nearly 2yrs.

Thanks for the offers y’all, but I had $200 in Best Buy gift cards from Christmas. Bought a PS4, Madden, NBA2k, and Modern Warfare.
