Anybody getting this? I've never played any of the other civs, but have played the total wars, empire earth, warcraft , age of empires etc. Honestly these are my favorite types of games. Really thinking about picking this up. What does the board think?

Civ 5 with xpacs is one of if not the best game on PC. If the art style doesn't turn you off Civ 6 should be similarly good.

I'm in. The stacked units and new city tile structure looks great but will probably take a couple play throughs to get used to. They took the UN out temporarily also, which is a big plus for me. I'm all about victory through conquering or the space race, diplomatic victories just don't do it for me.

I think I might wait until the first expansion pack before getting this. I've loved the past few Civ games, but I feel like they don't really hit their stride until the expansion pack comes out.

How much of the game play is warfare and conquering vs diplomacy? Or can you go either way?

It's a mix and depends on how you like to play. A big piece of it is obviously warfare but you also have to be smart and choose allies and try and maintain relationships. It's an insanely addicting game because of all the different ways you can "win" and the different civilizations you can play as/against.

Yeah, I'll be playing. The art style doesn't bother me. I started with Civ III

Will be buying, debating on purchasing the bundle with the expansions or just purchasing separately.
Been watching some videos, I really like the art style, reminds me of Warcraft 2 and Empire Earth.

100% agree. It's my most hours according to steam

I started with 1. Civ 2 is my favorite.

I have five, but only have Gods and Kings on it.
The only thing I do now is play the scenarios.
I never thought about looking for new packs.
Looking forward to Civ 6 though.

Civ 5 is my most played game ever so I'm pretty stoked for this.
As for warfare vs other options, it's depends on the civ you play and the situation of the game. Some viva are better for science, some for culture, etc. It all depends on how you play.
I always prefer either science civs or flexible civs where you can just adapt to what type of territory you start with.

Won't lie, I'm pretty excited about this game.

Civ 5 was my first Civ game. I've logged close to 400 hours on it even though it feels closer to 50 hours.
I'll probably pick this game up. I'd rather not upgrade my computer at the moment, so hopefully if I can play Civ 5 well, then I can play Civ 6 well too.

I don't see why not. Just turn the combat animations off and fast movement along with the basic video settings to low.

I've seen a couple of reviewers say this is "the most complete game so far." Gives me a little hope. I liked 5 from the beginning but I had the NiGHTS mod a week or two after I got the game.
I'm going to give it a week or two but I'm probably 99% sure I'll buy.
