I'm planning on helping a buddy put together a really cheap gaming PC and came across this article:
LINK
What does the Gaming Board think? I want to make sure he gets the best bang for his buck. I appreciate any input y'all might have.

frick no. Amd APUs are terrible

The only thing your buddy will be playing on a piece of crap like that is indie games with graphics intentionally stylized to give an old school feel, like Faster than Light.
Hit up pcpartspicker.com, and find an actual gaming PC at a reasonable budget. You don't have to pay a lot, but it needs to be more than what was linked in that article. That PC in the article will be so disappointing. Solid State Drives are almost a requirement for modern games.

If you just want to play esports type games then an APU is fine but keep in mind new Raven Ridge APU's are in development from AMD with Vega intergrated graphics.

He's much better off getting a G3258, finding a cheap older 1155 i5, or a FX 43xx/63xx and pair it with a rx 460.
Rx 460s are like $50-70 used, the CPU is $50, and you can find the rest of the stuff really cheap to get you to $200. That would shite on the POS PC in that article

Just did this, under $500. Could go even cheaper with an RX460, or a cheaper motherboard, but this allows you somewhat of an upgrade path.

Here's what you should do...
Buy a used FX 43xx/Mobo/ram or i5 2400 (or g3258)/mobo/ram combo for $100-120
Random 1tb HDD for like $30-40
Used rx 460 for $60-70
And then a PSU and case shouldn't cost you more then $50
That's sub $300

Probably some console peasant.

I was likely tired and/or a few drinks in whenever I posted that. I should go back and edit, but meh, I'm too lazy

If you're going to build a gaming PC for $200, then good luck.

Building one for $250ish is easily possible. I built a FX 4350 and r9 280x build for $230

Thanks for everyone's feedback. So, I'm thinking about just selling him my old build.
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 560
Processor: Intel Core i3-2120 3.3 GHz
Memory: 2x4 GB G.Skill DDR3 1600
Hard Drive: Western Digital Blue 500GB
Motherboard: ASUS P8H61-M LE/CSM
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912
Power Supply: Antec BP550 Plus
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
It will also include a wireless K+M, a cheap wireless network adapter, and a CD/DVD-ROM Drive.
I plan to offer it to him at a fairly good price, but I have no idea how to determine that in today's market. What do the experts think? Thanks!

Monitor? Windows?

Why would I include the price of my TV? And I just activated my iso with a kms service. If you're going to be a stickler about it, you can get OEM windows 10 pro keys for $20-30
