Korkstand, I had to do the same with my heroes. I used shards to get a Druid, TG, and GR. I would lean towards the GR or Immortep because you already have a tank in the Paladin.
I have a GR, I like him, but my jury is still out a bit. His 4/5 heavy blow may be masking how good he is. At level 64, he still dies less than my level 100 Ninja. I don't know much about Immortep.

Anybody hit the 70,000 mark for hero abilities yet? I'm at 30,000 on my way to 70,000

Nope, pretty much have all 4/9. Soon I'll be working toward 70,000 on somebody, probably TG, maybe PD.

I have TG and PD at 5/9. SM at 6/9. Druid at 4/9. 
Getting Cupid to 4/9 now then get PD to 6/9.

Here is the base I've settled on for now:
It seems to be a decent hybrid for HBM and raid defense. Still not consistent on D, but I'm just going to chalk that up to my heroes being shitty. I find it odd that I beat C 100% of the time with no garrisons and zero troops, but I can't beat D half the time with 3 heroes in each tower and a full compliment of troops, but whatever. I'm sure that once I get a few of my heroes over lvl 100 and/or I finally roll a decent legendary or two I'll be able to blast through D.
Anyway, any tips on tweaking my base more? I tend to shy away from the pure HBM designs with all buildings outside the walls, and since I went to this setup with gold storage kind of protected the raids have slowed down a lot.

Yeah, that's how he does 20M damage on the boss in about 10 minutes

I would do that, but I have hit the HB wall so most of my heroes are capped. I only have the 5 legendary heroes that aren't capped, so I don't garrison anyone so they split the xp 5 ways instead of splitting it 17 ways and wasting 2/3 of it.
