Meh. I might get Skyrim for that bitch though.

Ill be the first to admit. I would waste my life away on games like WoW.

Probably why I'll stay away from it

128 gig SSD for OS & most used programs
1.5 TB HD
2 X Radeon 6970 running in Crossfire
1000W Power Supply
DVD drive
Case
this is exactly what i'd recommend

You should be able to play on ultra settings with one 6970 though, right?

Here's a quick build to give you an idea
Comes to $1,086
I'd replace the MSI 6970 with the XFX brand, because I think they're better...but that one was out of stock (it's $50 cheaper too)
You can tweak from that, such as cases and whatnot. Should be able to get away with a less wattage PSU as well.
Didn't put an SSD in there because it's pretty much not needed for gaming, but it is a nice luxury to have for your OS.

1)Go to ibuypower.com
2)Pick out a computer you want. Mine was priced at $850.
3)Get the parts list from the site.
4)Go to Newegg, make a wish list
5)Find all of the items from your parts list and put them in your wish list
6)If it saves you a lot of money, which it should, order them all and have someone help you put it together. Putting a computer together is easy, but the first couple times you may want someone there to hold your proverbial hand.
I built that $850 computer for $650. Of course I got win7 for free from friends that are students at lsu.

Ok so it's not all too difficult. I appreciate the help. I'm looking forward to getting this thing going

I'd attempt it just for that sweet t-shirt

Didn't they update it to where you have to re-activate the OS via LSU every 180 days? I was planning to update mine that way but having to re-up seems bothersome.

I'm all about that shirt FWIW

Nah. Biggest thing is making sure the motherboard is compatible with the CPU...which itself is easy to figure out once you know what you're looking at.
The 6970 is a pretty big card and is going to be a bitch to fit in with most mid towers. I have the Antec-900 tower with a 7950 (1" shorter than the 6970) and it fits in my case pretty damn snug..so that's another thing to pay attention to.

I'd imagine that would take away from your frame rate as opposed to a 23" monitor, but I really have no idea.
if they're both running 1080p, they'll both get the same framerates.
HDTVs are fine as monitors. My monitor isn't working at home right now so I'm using my girlfriend's 19 inch HDTV until I bite the bullet and buy a new monitor.

Living in Oceanside, California.. I'd recommend you drive to the Micro Center in Tustin and let them help you. They have better sales than Newegg, especially on processors and motherboards.
When I built my computer last August, I bought my case, processor, motherboard, and video card there...and all of them were cheaper than anywhere else.

I haven't had to do that and I've had mine for over a year.

If you have a Microcenter near you that was a great suggestion. I do find their video card selection to be lacking. You'll get the rest of the parts at prices better than New Egg. You can place the order online for Instore pickup.

Right now is the absolute best time I've ever seen to build a gaming PC.
2500k and 2600k from intel are the definitive best buys on the market right now price to performance for processors and they will both last you for years.
Also unless you have some kind of ethics barring your judgement, pirate windows 7 and save yourself 200 bucks. You're welcome.
