Dev is probably right, but you get your own set of gold weapons with each character, so I'm crossing my fingers that maybe the gold key will glitch. Won't know until I try it the first time.

I used it at like level 9...I got some purple SMG. Nothing special.
About picking up extra ammo. I used to be able to pick up extra also. Not anymore though, and I already maxed out my backpack SDU spaces.

We wondered this last night. I've been picking up shotgun ammo the whole game but I'm not even using one. Its either a glitch or you're picking it up for someone else in your party.
