It's the sum total of your victory/losses in combat. You gain skill by defeating someone. How much you gain from that victory is determined by the gap in the skill level between the two players. It is lost when you are defeated by someone and the loss is once again determined by the gap in skill level (for someone like me, if any one kills me my skill level nose-dives). My skill floats between 600 and 800 because i can go 24-3 but those three deaths will be to a level 10, thus causing me to lose skill for that match. I wonder if it has something to do with matchmaking, seems pretty useless.

I dunno, I exclusively use the server browser which negates matchmaking.

I dunno, sounds like you are sour grapes about people killing you with it. I've died many times at the hands of USAS users, but I answered in kind and ended up on top.

Here is my logic, if it helps me dominate a game and doesn't break the balance than I will use it. Complain all you want about how over-powered the USAS was, but I was on the front lines mopping people up who weren't good enough to kill me. That isn't on the gun, that is on the user.
