I apologize for the ignorance but no nothing about gaming. We currently have a Wii that he plays mainly sports games
He has asked for a Nintendo switch for Christmas but from what I can gather is they dont offer many sports specifically baseball or football games. He not at an age where he plays anything other than sports games.

I am torn if the Nintendo switch is the right direction or should be looking at play station or xbox!

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

IF your just looking for sports games then i would prolly say go Xbox or PS4.

And in this situation i would go PS4 just so you can get MLb The SHOW. If he likes baseball. Other than one game im prettyy sure XBox adn PS4 share everything else.

Xbox does have a pretty fun more cartoony baseball game just can quite remember the name of it now.

LINK

Doesn't look like the latest Madden made it to the Switch, though.

You could probably get and Xbox one and a switch for less than $400, if you're willing to go the used route. Go haggle at some pawn shops.

Nintendo has marketed themselves more towards family/casual gaming over the years. Plus a lot of the nintendo brand appeals more to kids. Having it portable and available on trips or whatever is a big selling point as well.

And that's just gamestop's site. Every other link I tried to open was blocked at work.

Just search "switch sports titles" and you should get the full scope of what they offer.

I take it on every vacation for the kids. Whenever there’s downtime at the hotel/condo that’s a lifesaver to keep them from killing each other

BTW The Show will no longer be a PS4 exclusive after next year.

PS4 or Xbox for sports games. Both have the EA Access app that lets you get most the EA Sports games to download for around $30.00 per year. The Xbox has more games on its own subscription service as does PS4. If he has to have baseball this year go with the PS4 for MLB The Show. Its exclusive to that platform for another year.

Switch or Switch lite.

Switch can connect to your tv for family gaming. Switch lite is $100 cheaper and has no parts that can go missing, but cannot connect to your tv.

Xbox vs PS4 would depend on what his friends have so he can play with them online.

Doubt that it’s hitting Nintendo anytime soon with the PS5 out when that deal takes place.

But have good sports titles.

Kids still love sports games, unless they are completely lost.

This is the only reason I never recommend a Switch for kids.

They need to start where we started as kids.

NES: RBI, Tecmo, Double Dribble

Need to play SMB 1 and 3. Then SNES All Stars
