Fantasy stuff has always had a bunch of sex. Nothing new

Yeah, this is nothing new in the slightest, Bioware in particular has had pretty much 75% of the companions swing both ways in their games since always, whether it's DA origins or Mass Effect.

The only difference with BG3 is how heavily they hyped up the sex part.

Spent 20 min trying to figure out how to open the last door on the steel watch foundry last night since I accidentally let the blind guy die.

You gotta read the book on his body and another book on a bookshelf by the door

Thanks for the tip. It is crazy how much reading you have to do.

Some friends and I are going at it with multiplayer. Funny thing is both of them are bad about constantly restarting with new classes, so I’ve been way further into the game than they have.

I’m going Draconic Bloodline sorcerer. There’s a robe that will also let you add charisma to damage so I’m curious to see if it doubles when casting spells of your elemental type. We’re also a rogue that took 3 levels and is multiclassing ranger (whose bird has been so good at blinding people that it’s probably going to be party MVP ;) ) and a spore Druid (who saves all the corpses we come across for the sake of an undead mushroom army later) and Shadowheart respecced as a Paladin and Life Cleric.

Honestly, the multiplayer is a lot of fun.

my wife and I have done table top games a lot...like Gloomhaven/Frosthaven, but she doesn't touch video games.

We've been playing this together since Friday night, and the GH/FH experience has helped since a lot of the same mechanics and terminology are used and familiar to her. We're having a great time with it, even though she is slow as frick on her turns.

The start of Act 3 where you have to get to the portal was annoying

my wife and I are making very slow progress...mostly due to her taking forever each turn.

We really struggled with the quest to free Nere from behind the rubble. First, we kept blowing up with the rubble and triggering fights because the gnomes were too close. Then we realized we needed to get some specific powder pouches which would signal to the gnomes to move away. Then we did the fight several times before realizing we needed to speak to another gnome first to at least get a few of them on our side before beginning the battle. Finally cleared it after spending most of yesterday afternoon on it.

I love how important the diaglogue is in this game...the ramifications are huge.

My first playthrough clocked in at 170 HRS. I had to take a fricking break.

But yeah...the Iron Throne caught me off guard and was a real bitch. I just had to run and CC and TP. Still lost one hostage.

I couldn't save the ones where all the frickers were spawning. I mage handed the central room, sent two for the Duke and used arcane door. Sent one for Orpheleum and he teleported back and another for the other side. I knew one would teleport back so everyone was expendable and Whithers could handle

In DA: Origins, two characters swing both ways (Zevran and Leliana), with the other two being straight (Morrigan and Alistair).

In DA2, all 4 of the original romance options can be romanced regardless of main character gender (which, admittedly, saved a bit of time when the alterations are the main character voicelines). The 5th character added later, Sebastian, is straight. (There is a flirty, romance-esque dialog with Tallis - the Felicia Day character from an expansion - but it never goes beyond that, IIRC).

DA: Inquisition has two characters romanceable by either gender (Iron Bull and Josephine), two romanceable by male characters only (Cassandra and Dorian), two romanceable by any race female character (Sera and Blackwall), and two where race matter (Elven women can romance Solas or Cullen, while human women only add Cullen to the list).

So Inquisition has 2 gay/lesbian characters, 2 bi characters, and 4 straight characters; DA2 has 4 bi and one straight, and DA:Origins has 2 bi and 2 straight.

I believe Scout Harding (female) is romanceable in an expansion, and can be romanced by either gender protagonist. If you include her, that puts Inquisition up to 3 bi characters.

DA2 might have incorporated more nuance into the preferences of the NPCs had they been given more time, but they were told to get that one out the door a lot faster in order to capitalize on the success of Origins (this is why the map design is so repetitive).

we struggled all weekend with the "Lift the Shadow Curse" mission, where Halsin goes into the portal to help Thaniel and we have to defend the portal for 5 turns. Probably took us all weekend to figure out, but the unexpected benefit of this was that we really dove into all of the spells our 4 characters had and learned how to use some stuff that had otherwise gone unused to this point. It should really benefit us for the rest of the game.

But damn...it seemed like there were 30 enemies swarming us.
