Black Flag is the best of the three.

I love Origins, but I agree with this. They took traditional gameplay elements from the older games and locked them behind skill trees. Specific areas of the map are meant for certain character levels. No difference in a guard in one area versus another athestics-wise but the guard in the higher level zone can one hit kill you because he's higher level.
In Origins in particular, the RPG-like side quests were mostly boring.

Black Flag was great. Origins was also great.

Just picked up Origins today since it was 60% off on PSN Store.
Out of those 3 I agree with everyone else though. Black Flag was the best.
Not sure what I would go with as my overall favorite. I like III since it was set in Boston, NY, Revolutionary times. Black Flag was probably the most different of them all since you got to sail to different destinations.

I liked sailing around having my crew singing questionable songs while looking to harpoon stuff and sink enemy ships.

Haven't played Unity or Syndicate. I figured Black Flag would be kinda weak and figured it was just created due to the rise of the pirate fad at the time but it turned out to be really good. I got it on the cheap off eBay.

Not too far into Origins but it's a beautiful game. Feels huge with lots to do. I'm sure the side missions will become redundant at some point but for now I'm loving it.
