Anyone else play Satisfactory?

I picked it up the demo 8 weeks ago. After blinking the 8 hours was up and I ordered the game.
Im finding it a different way to unwind after I get home from work and put my kid down to bed.
Made it to phase 3 and decided to build a megafactory and stick the space elevator on top. 32x32 is the first floor with 28x28 floors for various production stages.
Using ChatGPT to help project manage and plan this shite out had been an interesting way to play.

Oh man. That game is fricking crack. I've put hundreds of hours in since like version 6 or 7 since someone posted a thread on here a few years back. It's the perfect game for me. It can be as low stress or high stress as you want it to be. It's funny because I run a factory in real life, and Satisfactory is my way to unwind from running the real factory. I don't have to worry about suppliers, employees calling out, broken machines, or production deadlines. I only have to worry about pleasing ADA.
The dev team is great and the community is very helpful.
One of the most helpful tools is this production tool.. Before I knew about that, I was using notebooks and calculators trying to keep track of things and plan out factories.
I'm on my third or fourth play-through. I've gone from what we call spaghetti factory layouts to whole industrial cities linked with trains and drones.
I play on passive mode because I don't like having the creatures to worry about. I just want to build, balance, and optimize.
It's always a race for me to get to coal power, and from there I slow down. The next big hurdle is always aluminum. You can beat the game without nuclear power as you can get more than enough power using large rocket fuel factories. I've done nuclear twice for the challenge, and it was "satisfying" once I had a perfectly optimized 10 tower uranium nuclear plant and nuclear disposal factory. I have yet to tackle plutonium power or ficsonium power. Maybe one of these days I'll get enough initiative to devote the hours to that, but in the meantime I like making aesthetically pleasing and balanced factories.

I've tried a few times to get into it but I just can't work with the pov and controls. I've got a few thousand hours into Dyson Sphere Program though.

Great Game...I pick it up every 2-3 months or so. Have finished it 3-4 times. Plan everything to be way bigger than you expect.

On phase3, play it every now and then. I still prefer factorio.

I've been thinking about buying it, but I just end up loading up Factorio and forgetting about it.
I build huge mega factories in it.
Satisfactory seems good, but I see the videos and it just looks kind of messy often. I haven't really seen anything that makes me think it has more to offer. Am I wrong?

Yeah, you're going to need more of everything than you thought you'd need. And you're going to need to get it from Point A to B efficiently, so factor in future transport when laying things out, even if you don't have access to certain transport tiers yet.
If you find one item is backing up in a factory, use a smart splitter to put overflow into storage and/or an Awesome sink. You always want your belts moving.
Balancing liquids can be tricky. Buffers and overflow manifolds are a must.

I’m working out the kinks of my oil refineries now. For some reason I can’t get my fuel to produce what the math says it should be.
Haven’t played factorio but I have seen factorio players say they really like the 3d layer that satisfactory has.
I’m forcing myself to build my factories vertically now. I think I’ve only explored less than half of the map.

Yeah, it's on my wishlist, but I already have enough forever games. Heck, I can see My Time at Sandrock taking hundreds of hours. There is layer after layer of this game.
Satisfactory looks like a game I will sink more hours than I did Oxygen Not Included (#Dontask).

The blueprinting in satisfactory is gonna piss you the heck off.

Oh, that's too bad because blueprints are a huge deal for me. I created a "Base in a book" blueprint system in Factorio where large blocks have specific goals and buildings in them. Trains drop off resources on one end, others pick up on the other end. I use calculators to get the max input and outputs, etc. Totally nerd it up.
I just got an email from steam that Satisfactory is on sale until Oct 1. I think I'll stick to factorio, thanks for the heads up. I still haven't tried out the new DLC anyway.

It's not a terrible game, maybe it gets better, but where i'm at i can only make tiny blueprints, makes scaling much more difficult(which isn't what makes factorio fun IMHO)
Does run great on ps5.

Yeah that's the stuff I like most. I was afraid of that and was a reason I had never pulled the trigger. The 3d is cool, but at the of the day I'm all about making good factories and designing the overall system. In Factorio I use the research speed to determine the level of my factory. And it's all about scaling and blueprints. I just put down a blueprint and the drones build it from the factory parts that are already being made automatically etc. I love that.

You get bigger blueprints as the game progresses in Satisfactory, but they max out at 6x6x6. Satisfactory blueprints aren't meant to replace factory construction. They're meant more for module construction within a factory, so like splitting manifolds and whatnot.
Satisfactory and Factorio are, on the surface, very similar as far as what you're trying to accomplish, but they target different audiences. Factorio is more strategic, whereas Satisfactory wants you to kind of spread your architectural wings. For half of my career I was an urban designer, and now I run a factory, so I skew way more towards the Satisfactory target audience than Factorio. Both are great games.

Does factorio have lizard dogs?

It has biters which are giant insects that get pissed off at you for polluting their planet.
