How the hell bad off was Sony's infrastructure for all of SOE to STILL be down?
In this day and age (with enough cash) you could have damned near rebuild everything from all-new servers already.

It really has sucked man. Didn't have much going on this weekend for once and was hoping it would be back up.

you know i dont mind it being down, if they would just tell us the truth...
stop telling me, it will be up within a few days, within a week, within another week, by the tuesday, by thursday, by friday.... just say i dont know when the hell it will be back up

If I read another "we're working around the clock", I'm going to kick a puppy. Hard.

Would you rather them say... "We're working a little bit here and there as we feel like it"
It's not just a matter of bringing it back up.
They could have brought it right back up with all the same security flaws. They are basically re-engineering this thing to try and fix the security. That is a HUGE deal.

Oh simmah down there hun. I was just commenting on how many times that exact phrase has been thrown out there.
I will say they should probably stop establishing time frames if they're not going to have it up by then (i.e. end of the week).

That's fair. I think they really do not know.

I feel offended that they allowed their servers to be compromised by said security flaws to begin with, causing their customer base to wait for weeks to get it a refurbished product back online.

I've never been upset at Sony, one, cause I have a lot of real life things to deal with, and two, because i assumed they were unfortunate victims of persistent hackers. But upon hearing that they had outdated security with no firewall, it shows me great negligence in common decency. For such a large company with millions of credit cards and personal info on file, it is inexcusable to be so nonchalant when it comes to protecting the people who trust you.

The best thing that will come from this is that PSN will probably improve by leaps and bounds and Sony wouldn't dare charge for it

Latest blurb:
Were their systems so outdated that now they are having software conflicts when applying updates?

Until they say the cost of the new security system and infrastructure requires them to charge users.
I'm getting to the point of I'll keep my PS3 but will likely look at the next generation of XBOX for my next purchase.

I have both, but I wonder how sales have been affected.
I know of one person who went out and bought a box, cause he was having BLOPS withdrawals..
I've been playing SOCOM4, its fun, no need for online yet.

That just makes your "one person" that much more nerdy.
