Negative.
Are you really this naive? No offense but now we are getting into a childlike understanding of digital redeeming key codes.

No. MS could easily have a function where you click "Add new game key" and enter whatever key you bought from wherever.
It's the same as redeeming MS point cards.
You can buy Minecraft for Xbox at Gamestop right now and all you get is a key code to redeem it on Xbox live. No physical game.

Exactly. The system is already in place.
Hell if they wanted to take it far enough, MS could allow trusted partners to let you buy a Key while entering your LIVE credentials so that your purchase goes straight in to your LIVE account.
Sony could as well for that matter.
I doubt they would go that far.

This isn't a PC only feature. Xbox and Sony have had ways to redeem key codes for ages.

You have never bought a card to add a balance to your PSN wallet and then redeemed it online?
Posted on 6/14/13 at 12:38 pm to stout
negative i just add money as needed through the store

Well You can and have been able to on PS3 for a long time now.
Same thing as buying a key from Amazon and entering the key on Steam, Xbox, etc to activate a game on your account.

I don't buy a lot of games. I buy FIFA from the store so I can have it at release, but every other game I've bought in the past couple of years has been digital download from XBL. I like it.
What I don't like is a mandate that I must login once a day or games that I've paid for, and downloaded to my hard drive will not work. Granted I'm online most of the time anyway, but I just don't see the reasoning behind this. Why do you have to be online to play offline game content? Stupid

Stout, it's sell. They sell digital keys. I've let this slide for the last two weeks. I can't do it anymore.

MS is trying to eliminate disks. If you buy a disk for xbone, all you are doing is transferring the information from that disk on to your hard drive. You could throw the disc away after that if you wanted to. To be able to do this, MS has to have some measure in place to make sure you and every person on the block don't take that one disc and download it to your xbox one or people could buy a disc, download, and sell it on ebay as an endless cycle and perpetuate this used game market.
The once every 24 hr online check is to make sure you are playing a game you have the rights to.

I may have missed it, but how large are the HDs going to be to hold all these games and DLCs. Seems like after a little while, you may need to delete them to make space for new stuff? I know they have cloud storage now but that is only 512mbs (I think) and then you pay for whatever you want after that

Very true, but the concern is that you MUST go through XBL or PSN to activate those keys. Which is totally unlike a PC which requires only an internet connection.
You can't even get on a web browser on a console without going through Live or PSN.
So, yes MS or Sony either one could certainly dictate who could sell keys and or games on their systems.
In fact I imagine it will work very similar to the way it does now on the 360. Just as their is a NetFlix app to watch NetFlix , there will be a Gamestop App to buy keys from Gamestop. No app, no game sales.
Now, I find it highly doubtful that MS would refuse to allow GS an app, but just for the sake of argument, one never knows for certain.

That's fine with me. Reselling is what's got prices inflated in the first place. I don't mind having to be online to download, register, buy, or play online content. What I dislike is that I won't be able to play offline content offline even after I have paid for it without logging in once a day. I don't understand what the reasoning is behind this.
It reminds me of hearing "because I said so" from my parents when I was a kid.

I've been telling him that.

I can sorta see their justification. Blame it on all the cheaters in the world.
