Activision Re-releasing 39 titles for the Atari

You can get the real deal for a lot less than $1300.

It's absurdly overpriced but it's an item specifically for the hardcore collector's market and people like that tend to blow a lot of money on their hobby by default so a lot of them will probably get it.

I appreciate the nostalgia, but I get much more joy from spending $2.99 on Time Pilot or other arcade games. The Atari games were total shite (except maybe Missile Command and Choplifter?)

It's clearly more geared towards collectors and that's fine. It will suck if they don't eventually let you buy all of them individually though b/c the pack combos kind of don't make sense.

Yes but that's the super collectors pack which gets you all the box sets plus a copy of the ten games you can purchase individually.

In the collector box sets each game comes in a case made of colored plastic instead of the normal black, has a themed metal trading card, and a high score club patch like you used to be able to get from Activision back in the 70s and 80s.

Each normal version comes in a classic sized Atari box, a full color instruction book, color sticker on the case, and a color slip cover for game storage.

So yeah, it's expensive and many of those games can be found loose for cheap but what you're paying for is the collectables and the fact that these are brand new cartridges that don't have 40 years of potential damage.

$35 per individual cartridge isn't too bad of a price for a usable colletable IMO though I do think it will be total horseshite if they keep the majority of those games locked into sets instead of letting you by each by itself as they are released.
