12 and 15 ping. What does this mean for gaming?

I did the speed test and one test said 12 ping, the other 15 ping. This good, bad or normal? I just don't want to lag on MW3.

Great, actually. The lower, the better.
I can't give you specifics on what they actually mean. I think it's the time it takes for your to reach the host or server.

Depends on what your pinging
15 millisecond ping is fricking great but if you are pinging your ISPs main backbone down the street it means nothing. or a speedtest site
Ping millisecond response between you and the mw3 server is what matters. Obviously you can't test that at the moment

12 - 15 ping is fine.
Ping is how long it takes for your packets of information to hit the server. So, in 15 milliseconds your little ICMP packet of information that tests ping gets from your computer, to your router, through your ISP's network, over the internet (several ISP networks), to the server's ISP, to the server's router, to the server.
Pretty amazing to think how fast it is, huh?

I think it is a little past fine.
That is around the best you can realistically hope for (assuming the query is to a computer that is actually on the internet and not just local).

Well yeah, but I'm assuming that's on a speed test from his ISP. Those are always going to be really fast. Most of our customers test in the 11-15 range. The ping that matters is your ping to each individual server. In BF3 I try to find servers at 22-50ms ping. Anything above that makes a noticeable difference. Having a fast connection to your ISP is great and necessary, but if you have a bad connection to the server, your connection to your ISP doesn't matter.

Close enough, depending on which server you used and what ISP you're on. When you do a speed test, your ping is just a test to your connection to that one server. You can run speed tests to many different servers and your pings will be different for all of them.

I live in the pandhandle in Florida, and I usually run mine to Atlanta to get a good idea.
