Other than a coloring agent, I say: "Good for just about nothing"...

Could even be a deadly carcinogen

Spanish Smoked Paprika, Pimenton, is the shite! Great stuff and full of flavor.

I use smoked paprika but I don't know if it's Spanish or Hungarian.

I never knew they had all this smoked, hungarian, vodka flavored, etc, paprika. All i ever knew was the old bland crap in a jar. Interesting...

Think of how you might use liquid smoke. If you want that flavor but you need a dry ingredient you use smoked paprika. Like in a dry rub for ribs.

Paprika potato chips are tasty.

And I use paprika seasoning quite often. It offers more subtlety than other "hot" spices.

ZuZu might be gone a long time trying to find it, there, and when he does, he'll have pick a pocket to pay for it.

where do you buy your spices from? only reason I ask is because paprika is one of the subtle flavors that I can actually pick out in a dish and i dont consider myself to have a refined mouth by any means.

im guessing that the spice that you purchased was ground ages ago and just outdated, hence the blandness.

I don't think I've ever actually purchased any Sky. I've experienced it before on potato salad, but it was bland, had no taste and I guess was used as a coloring agent. I don't believe I've ever tasted these "other" paprikas talked about here?

Wow, not exactly up with the times are we?

Zu Zu is my imaginary male friend and confidant that lives in the van down by the river. He shacks up with one legged Shaquitha-a (pronounced Shaquithai-ay). They are the main voices in my head
