Well it's nice to be able to add a third tier option for price increases now.

As was pointed out earlier, this issue will not affect live prices all that much.

You could start a facebook and chain email campaign to get people to stop buying crawfish and see if you can get the price to drop.

Or wait until after Easter like I do.

Rising food costs in general have been blamed on the surging gas prices. Now that gas is around half of what it used to be, I'm not seeing a drop in food prices. It's always something.

This won't affect the prices of sacks when the Spillway is running (which is when we buy) so I don't care

It seems like each and every year there is some (dubious?) excuse to (artificially?) inflate crawfish prices.

Winter was too hot, winter was too cold, winter was too dry, winter was too wet, early freeze, late freeze...

I'm skeptical to say the least

...rise from about $7.35 an hour to about $12.35 an hour, according to Randol.

“That reflects on about $3 a pound on crawfish tail meat,”

So, a $5/hr wage increase means a $3 bump to a pound of peeled crawfish. Simple math means that those "guest workers" peel about 5/3 lbs of crawfish an hour. That doesn't sound like a whole lot of output.

guest workers

Kind of puts a dent in that whole support local mantra.
I'm more than happy to eat Chinese crawfish. Either way, Asians are doing most of the work.
