How do you define "top"? Of the cities I've been to in the list pride posted earlier BR stacks up pretty well these days. High end and innovative stuff is kinda lacking which I assume is what is getting some of yalls panties in a bunch

Pride listed hundreds of cities. You’ll have to narrow that down a bit.

no they dont, it's still Boston

if you're going to include a suburb of Boston, at the least pick ones that are out of reach of the T

For a city its size, BR is one of the top food cities in america

#1 want to point out that many people on this board have accepted that Lafayette has a better food scene than Baton Rouge.

#2 Richmond has a better food scene than Baton Rouge. At a bare minimum we have a BBQ joint which is nationally recognized and VA isn't even know for BBQ. Richmond has multiple James Beard nominated restaurants and a diverse culinary scene. Hell, L'Possum was named the best restaurant in the South by Southern Living.

BR lacks in a food scene outside of Louisiana fare. It's true.

And is Brewbachers still in business? That gets my vote.

The point is, pride said BR had a top restaurant scene for a city it’s size, I disagreed, and he gave me a specific list of cities and said to tell him which cities of equal or smaller size was better.

Both Cambridge and Somerville were on that list, and much smaller.

I played by his rules and was still able to make my point.

Such a trite, overdone sentiment.

Almost as trite and overdone as saying “br has awful food”

And people who have visited some of those cities disagree with your list

And others agree. That’s why it’s a debate.
Although I’d counter that the overwhelming majority, whether or not they agree with my list, definitely disagree with your assessment of the Baton Rouge food scene.

Except they don’t. That’s the funny part. People just don’t realize how many cities there are out there

People have named some cities. SOME CITIES

Hell, you made a list, and even possibly said some in your own list may not be better than br. And your very list is simply a speck on the total cities similar in size to BR

So even you haven’t truly made the case at all BR is not in the top % of its category.

I made a list of places that I have been to that are of equal or lesser size, because it would be unfair to list places that I’ve never been to and claim they are better.

I also don’t claim to be the best traveled guy, and was still able to name 10+ places I felt are better.

So with my limited experience, I can guess there are others out there that I simply haven’t been to.

Again, my aim is not at all to shite on BR’s food scene. Every time I come home, I see new and better places popping up, and it’s awesome. I just strongly disagree with you that it’s “near the top.” But I hope it gets there.

That I can believe. Although the irony that you of all people are saying it is pretty rich.

Which is baffling to me. While I'm happy to concede that Lafayette has a great food scene for its size, I've never seen anything approaching a reasonable argument for it being a better food city than Baton Rouge. The only restaurant in Lafayette that I wish we had an equivalent of in Baton Rouge is Pamplona. Everything else is likely already being done here as good or better than what's being done in Lafayette.

Tru Dat. It's fall from grace in the past 3 years is pretty amazing. We used to go twice a month now it's probably been over a year. Wasn't impressed with the highland location when I went last month either.
