I thought I'd ask the board this question since my google search hasn't turned up anything yet. I am looking for a website or app that allows you to compare different wines. It doesn't necessarily have to be something like Vivino, where the wines are rated and you can buy them.

I'd like to be able to pick a vintage and appellations of a certain type (e.g. 2013 Cade Cabernet Howell Mountain) and have recommendations made from other similar appellations around the world.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

As I said, I don't believe Vivino does this down to the appellation, though I could be wrong (If I'm wrong, show me where this information is).

For example, when I search the example I mentioned above, I get suggestions for other wines I might like, specific to Napa Valley Cabernets. Obviously there is a huge amount of variation across that type of wine.

Oh yeah, I haven;t found anything much better than vivino. When I find one I like, I just do the leg work myself. My first and only trip to napa and Russian River Valley were very informative, so I have been trying to patch my knowledge from there outward.
