Last night, went there to get some drinks with a good sized crew from school. About 30 people in the whole place and we made up about 15 of that 30. We were playing pool and friend scratched on the 8 ball so there was some excitement and said friend dropped the pool stick. Bartender asks for his name and proceeds to close his tab and says he has to leave for slamming the pool stick. We are all in shock and say it was heat of the moment and an accident. Bartender says doesn't care and kicks him out. So we all leave with him because thought it was a real gay move considering we were giving them all their business. No tips from anyone who closed the tabs which may be dick but we were all furious.

Anywho, I am real laid back guy and usually don't give a frick but want to complain here and tell everyone to avoid that place. I have seen a lot worse at bars and that move by the bartender and manager was beyond belief. It's my goal from now on to stop that place from getting any business, and we would go there every Wednesday night but that is now stopped.

Rant over.

so you wanna go from first gear laid back guy to fifth gear asswipe dickhead and ask people not to patronize a business solely based on your experience ??

and there are three sides to every story, her side, his side, and the truth ... i think there's two other sides to this story ..

no shite .. and i can't see a bartender whose income depends on tips .. kicking someone out for just MERELY dropping a pool stick .. i would imagine about 10 things happened before that and this group was prolly getting on the nerves of the other 15 people in there ... my guess is others were complaining about them ..

Agree 100% with rag. Sounds like your friend did a little more than drop the pool stick

Where is this place, anyway?

I might make it a point to stop in and get a drink, if I'm ever nearby, just to help offset this dude's silly crusade.

If anything, I'd be more willing to visit this place knowing they have a zero tolerance policy for people acting like idiots when they scratch an eight ball

Ha, I like the responses and wouldn't expect anything different. First, he dropped the pool stick and it wasn't a slam after a missed shot.

Yes I know that you would think just because it was a bunch of grad school kids that we were acting like asses before this ordeal but it really wasn't the case in this instance.

The 4 dollar tip jokester got to me because that is probably true but was just trying to prove a point.

To the next guy, this is not a crusade and I may even be back there soon but it's fresh on my mind from last night and thought it was real crappy way to treat customers.

sounds like a crusade to me ...

and you are full of shite and prolly misrepresenting the full array of facts ... if there are 15 guys in the place .. and you have a $200 to $300 tab going .. no one is going to kick someone out for merely "dropping" a pool stick ... what if someone accidentally knocks a chair over, was he kicking those out too ?

actually, i would think grad school students would be mature and well behaved, so ... no ..

I guess you win. You are good at deciphering posts. It's a great talent to have.

I like the Cove. Excellent beer and scotch selection. When I went the bartenders were pretty cool too.

I'm thrilled someone enforced the rules. Misbehave and your out of here. Hooray, for the bartender.
