Migrant labor picks greens, Amurkins kill cows.

AND, you get a mini salad on a dressed hamburger.

Something is wrong in this equation.....

It's still baffling that produce costs more than beef.

well for a consumer, it doesn't

cheap ground beef (or hamburger beef) is like $4/lb

Always thrilled to be dragged to Salata for lunch so that I can pay $13 for a salad and drink oriental mango chai tea as opposed to just iced tea.

It's all a conspiracy to keep low income people fat, and therefore keep them at a low income.

Same reason people will pay $10 for an omelette that it costs someone three pennies to make.

The markup on salads doesn't come even close to the markup on breakfast.

Ehh lettuce is usually pretty cheap. But winter shortages drive the prices up. Lettuce is cheaper than meat, but the fact is you are using a lot more of the lettuce.

Healthy food is generally more expensive because it can be. People will pay for it.

$1 burger from the dollar menu at McD or BK or a $10 fat lady salad from the grocery store trough. Tough call

because people will buy them for that insane markup. i pretty much never order salads when out for this reason...out of principle

agree. Wedge salads irk me most of all. Cut a lettuce head into wedges, sprinkle on bleu cheese and bacon and a dressing, charge $10.

It's more about shelf life.....produce goes south far faster than highly processed cold cuts, cheeses, etc.
