And surely EBR has more chains and crap fast food, no?

I would think that is fairly even

quote:

EBR might have more middle-of-the-road places trying to be upscale, but for sheer variety, JP all the way.

EBR has a far better Lebanese scene

JP better hispanic scene, I wouldnt say either crushes the ethnic diverse food game more than the other

EBR better upscale

Italian I would say EBR, but this could be a push

EBR crushes the fried chicken and chicken wing game, north BR ya heard

Seafood restaurants is a push. Some good hole in the walls and fry houses for both but nothing exceptional

Anyone saying one or the other "wins by a mile" is crazy

I'd say Jefferson Parish, but its fairly close.
Sampling of the positives:
Vietnamese Restaurants
Mosca's
Banana Blossom
R&O's, Crabby Jack's, Da Wabbit
Metairie Road and the surrounding neighborhoods
Veterans Blvd (long stretch and plenty of really good places)
Drago's, Ruth's, Impastato's, Vincent's

Jefferson Parish encompasses the Westbank, Kenner, Metairie, Harahan, Bucktown and Jefferson. Top to bottom there is better quality and variety than EBR.

Umm, no. JP beats EBR in seafood, if only by sheer volume.
Bevi, Seither's, Kenner Seafood, Harbor Seafood, Sal's, Perino's, Cafe des Amis, Danny & Bonnie, Drago's....and that's just off the top of my head. No, you're not going to find white-tablecloth seafood centric in most of JP, but there isn't any in EBR either.

Ok

EBR

Tonys, Dragos, Phils, Parrains, Mike Andersons, Louisianna Laginappe, Jubans, Monbtalbanos....And thats just off the top of my head

I have lived in both for over 9 + years minimum

Neither blows the other out the water in this category. I think you are getting "BR/JP wins by a mile" from people that have only extensively lived in one or the other

Because if you only visit all you see and really notice is the massive amount of chains in both places. The locals know about the actual good places though. Both very similar food scenes

And oysters right at the shucking house, and Jefferson Parish actually contains GRAND ISLE. LoL. I catch crabs right off the beach. Can't do that in EBR.

Yeh, I didnt think this was a thread about which parish had better saltwater access

But yes, its easier to buy seafood while being on or next to the Gulf in Jefferson Parish

Don't forget about Bucktown and places like R&O and Station 6.

Won't even go down the PoBoy road.

Italian is a wash
Mexican is a wash
Vietnamese is a wash
Seafood JP
Japanese BR
Thai JP

I dunno what other categories to do

Not true at all. Like I said, the two parishes are very similar

But find me a restaurant in JP that is comparable to Maison Lacour

And then kalurah street grill is also going to be tough for JP to compete with

But if I had to guess, you are commenting and you dont even know of either of those restaurants I just named......

And Ninos and Mansurs are up there as well. Dont forget Beausoliel

The top 10 would be well represented by EBR, with possibly the majority being in EBR

I would bet none of the "JP by a mile" posters like yourself have been to any of these restaurants or even heard of them

Same with the "EBR by a mile idiots". Likely havent been to any of the better restaurants in JP

Pretty good list

I would say Upscale/, which I would give to BR

Hispanic could be added and given to JP

Lebanese added to BR
