Cooked 14 pound bird in oven at 225 degrees for 4 hours, then dropped in the fryer for 12 minutes. Crispy on outside, moist on inside.

No microwave. Deliciousness!

What difference did you notice as compared to just frying?

Since it was sort of pre-cooked, frying time was much less and bird seems a bit more tender and juicy. Sort of the best of both worlds, baked and fried.

My uncle Larry did one on his big rig motor again. Fort Worth to Rayville then idled it for three hours when he got here. Wasn't bad for a Freightliner.

Guys, sometimes I think we get caught up in the time it takes to do things, when really that isn't what this is all about.

If I'm spending 4hours chilling with my baws, drankin, having a good time, prepping other dishes, cleaning, drinking, watching NFL, drinking, some Larry, and taking the time to make sure everything is done right, not right now, then we've beaten the terrorists.

I did mine sous vide. But, didn't have a container large enough for a 15 lb bird, so I put it in the washing machine. Once it was done, it was easy just to put it in the dryer for the sear.
