Might as well stick with the JD theme.

If you see one of these, pick it up, there aren’t many around

Just got one of these at Martins. They had an open bottle. It's excellent!

Good afternoon gentlemen. Fresh crack of one that's been on my shortlist for years.

That's one I'd really like to get my hands on at some point

I've been collecting the single barrel recipes for the last few years and still have one left. Some of those have been outstanding and all are good. They're just really hard to find.
First impression of this one is that the complexity is on a different level. There's definitely more oak, which isn't surprising given the 14-20 year range. The oldest sib I've had was just short of twelve years.

Assist to wick. This was on my radar a few months ago, but I wasn't sure if/when Louisiana would actually get it.

I had a customer in the shop a couple of weeks ago and he is well connected in the bourbon world and was present when the 2 barrels of this experimental rye was tasted. He didn’t know any had made distribution but his comments put it on my radar and my distributor was able to source me a few

Is it finished?

My understanding is they pumped cigar smoke into the barrel and finished it another 8-12 months. Any more of this juice will be another year out, the supply is gone.

Is it heavily influenced by the finish?

I would say it is medium influence, you know it is there, you know it is smokey, but if the bottle didn't say cigar, you might have a hard time placing the taste. I would say the bottle is pretty unique in my experience and there isn't much out there currently with this taste profile.
